Chris Williams defeated Greenville's Adam Stephenson 5 and 3 in the second round of match play at the U.S. Amateur Championship.
Williams is the world’s top-ranked amateur and a member of the 2011 USA Walker Cup Team.
Stephenson, a former Rose High School and East Carolina University golfer finishes as one of the 32 best amateurs in the field originally consisting of 312 golfers.
The U.S. Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
