GREENVILLE, N.C. – Pete Buscaino has been named Director of Baseball Operations at East Carolina University according to an announcement from head coach Cliff Godwin.
Buscaino will handle a variety of administrative duties, including team travel, game-day organization, summer and winter camps, special events coordination and community outreach efforts with the Pirate program.
“From the first day I met Pete at UCF, I knew he was going to be successful at whatever career avenue he chose,” Godwin said. “He will bring energy and an expertise to the operations position, which will allow us to have success on the field. I am excited for Pete as he will be a great addition to our baseball staff.”
Prior to his appointment at ECU, Buscaino spent the last four years at UCF where he served as a student manager for the Knights baseball team. During his tenure, he was responsible for organization of all equipment, field preparation at Jay Bergman Field, and statistical analysis for coaching staff, while also organizing community outreach events.
During the summers, Buscaino could be found traveling the country volunteering at some of the nations top baseball camps and showcases including stops at Clemson, Mississippi State, UCF and Perfect Game Showcase. In 2013 he served as the assistant coach for the New Market Rebels in the Valley Baseball League working with defense and coaching first base.
Buscaino’s diverse background is not limited just to the college ranks, as he spent time working with the Tampa Bay Rays (role player/2010-11) and the Baltimore Orioles (clubhouse attendant/2011-12).
A native of Clearwater, Fla., Buscaino received his undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies from UCF in 2014.
Godwin also announced that he has retained pitching coach Dan Roszel, who just completed his fourth season with the Pirates, as well as volunteer assistant coach Austin Morgan.
