POLICE: Former ECU Football Player Killed By Brother In Greensboro

A former ECU football player was murdered Monday night in Greensboro, and police have arrested the man's brother.

Greensboro police say Derek Blacknall was found wounded at his home on Willard Street around 10:00 p.m. He later died at a local hospital.

Police have charged Darren Blacknall, his brother, with first degree murder. Police say the victim was wounded during a dispute, but did not say if that was a result of a shooting or stabbing.

ECU says Blacknall was enrolled from July 2007 to December 2012, but didn't graduate. He was arrested last year for drug charges in Greenville.

Blacknall played for the Pirates from 2007 to 2011.
