UCF Cracks Top 25

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Welcome to the Top 25, Central Florida.

UCF's rapid rise reached a major milestone Sunday, earning the program's first national ranking in The Associated Press poll. UCF checked in at No. 25.

The Knights (7-2, 5-0) are the only team unbeaten in Conference USA this season. They vaulted into the national rankings with big wins against East Carolina and Houston and are in prime position to host the league title game.

The program long in the shadows of the state's Big Three also has at least some bragging rights this week: While Florida is No. 24, Florida State and Miami are unranked.

The Knights will be only moving up as I don't see them losing another game until that Liberty Bowl, if they even lose that. The pirates will be in that same position in 2 years, guaranteed.

Good for UCF. I'm always glad to see CUSA teams ranked. I don't really mind when State and Carolina are ranked (it should not be a zero sum game except when we play each other). ECU will be there when we are able to take care of business on the field. Not when we get blown out in our own stadium by a mediocre (at least this year) Navy team. As far as schedule goes, not many FBS teams have a non-conference schedule as tough as ECU's. We cannot control what conference we are in. Like Boise State, TCU, etc., we would love to be in a BCS league but we don't control that so we should not be overly criticized for it.

You my be right TruthBTold. Sure ECU got blown out in this one game. Heck this was our rebuilding year right? But I will take this one blow out over a winning record and possibly a year of bowling. We are a young team that will only get better. Not sure who you pull for so if you favor the cheaters (UNC) then you have a long road ahead. If you pull for the losers (NC State) then look forward to having a year owned by those boys that gave up 76 points. If you pull for any other football school in NC well I dont think its necessary to go there. Haha ;) Have a good day

ECU may need to schedule those schools because when they play Division I teams, they are susceptible to giving up 76 points. HA HA.

I'm really not sure how they deserve it. Sure they only have two loses but have wins against too many no names. I mean they did lose to NC State (argument on if they are really good though) and K State. IMO they do not deserve this ranking and shouldn't even be thought of when you ask yourself who are the BEST 25 teams in America. Oh well thats whats wrong with college football now. Maybe ECU should schedule Gardner Webb, Western Carolina, and South Dakota State so they can be ranked too. Just saying.

WOW Penn State received 29 votes; BIG DEAL! However, if ECU got 29 votes, there would be a parade in downtown Greenville.
