Spurrier: QB Shaw Hurting After Vanderbilt Game

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said starting quarterback Connor Shaw can barely lift his right arm and will miss the next few days of practice.

Shaw was injured in the ninth-ranked Gamecocks' season-opening, 17-13 victory at Vanderbilt last Thursday night. Shaw was diagnosed with a deep bone bruise in his right shoulder. Spurrier said Sunday that Shaw's shoulder joint was not damaged and if the junior's condition improved he could play in the team's home opener Saturday against East Carolina.

Shaw returned to the game after getting hurt and led South Carolina's game-winning touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.

Tailback Marcus Lattimore ran for 110 yards and two touchdowns in his first game back from knee surgery last fall. Spurrier said Lattimore came out of the game in good shape.
