IRVING, Texas --- East Carolina freshman Marshall Guilmette was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week by by a vote from a media panel representing the 12 member schools announced the league office Monday.
Guilmette helped the Pirates improve to 3-0 on the season with wins over Methodist and UNCG. The Kennesaw, Ga. native averaged 9.5 points and seven rebounds in the two wins, while shooting a a combined 61.5 percent (8-13) from the field.
He scored double figures for the second in three games this season with 10 points against UNCG to go along with five rebounds and a team-four assists. Earlier in the week against Methodist, he narrowly missed recording his first career double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
ECU returns to the hardwood inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum Tuesday night against Appalachian State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
