ECU Women's Assistant Leaving For Wingate

Greenville -- WITN has learned ECU assistant women's basketball coach Ann Hancock has accepted the head coaching job at her Alma Mater Wingate University.

A press conference conference to introduce Hancock could take place as soon as Tuesday afternoon.

Hancock spent the past two years as Heather Macy's top assistant at East Carolina after ten years as the head coach of the UNC - Wilmington women's basketball program.

As a player at Wingate University Hancock was a four-time All-Conference and All-District player, leading the Bulldogs to a combined 103 wins and four postseason appearances.

Hancock will take over a very successful Wingate program from Barbara Nelson who resigned last week to pursue other career opportunities.
