Greensboro, NC-- The U.S. Marshal's service in Greensboro arrested ECU basketball player Shamarr Bowden Monday afternoon on gun charges.

Bowden was taken into custody in the parking lot of the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA. Officers say Bowden was wanted for criminal possession of a loaded weapon and prohibited use of a firearm by the Rochester (NY) Police Department. The charges originated after an Easter weekend party where Bowden is accused of firing shots into the air.

The 22-year-old Bowden is being held in the Guilford County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.

Bowden is the third ECU basketball player arrested since Sunday morning. Teammates Corvonn Gaines and Tylisman Armstrong were both charged with being intoxicated, disruptive behavior and resisting a public officer.

ECU head coach Jeff Lebo released a statement regarding the arrests of Gaines and Armstrong saying, "We are aware of the incident involving our student-athletes and are in the process of gathering all of the facts. They have been suspended indefinitely from all team activities. We have a set of conduct standards in place that we expect our players to abide by."
