After passing for five touchdowns in a 41-7 C-USA win over Memphis, East Carolina sophomore QB Shane Carden has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league's media.
Carden established career highs in passing yardage (308), touchdown passes (5) and completion percentage (75.8) to lead East Carolina to its largest victory margin since 2009 with a 41-7 Conference USA win over Memphis. He completed 25-of-33 passes without an interception against the Tigers and recorded scoring throws of 67, 39, 11, 14 and four yards to match a single-game school record. Carden successfully hit targets on his first seven passes of the contest before finishing the first quarter with a nine-of-11, 176-yard performance to get the Pirates off to a 14-0 lead. In his last two opening periods (UCF, MEM), Carden has completed 17-of-20 passes for 301 yards and three TDs. He has directly accounted for 13-of-14 touchdowns as ECU's quarterback this season and currently leads all Pirate ball-carriers with four rushing scores.
