Lady Pirate Fans Get A First Hand Look At Practice

A few showers did nothing to dampen a great time at the Cliff Moore Practice Complex for The 6th Annual Lady’s Football Clinic. First year coach Ruffin McNeill says 350 women of all ages participated in this years event that included a full slate of football drills.

The ladies started the day breaking down game film and getting some insight from coach McNeill and his staff.

Then it was on to the drills. The ladies were put into groups and took turns at different stations with the pirate coaching staff... From learning a proper 3-point stance, to getting a good jump off the snap. Tackling. Blocking and of course with this high flying offense plenty of passing drills... Coach McNeill said its always-great fun having done similar clinics while at Texas Tech.

The lady pirate fans of all ages looked like they had a great time. And it was also a chance to meet new pirate coach Duane Price. Price will be the defensive tackles coach... Taking over for mark nelson that resigned earlier this week. Price, Texas Tech alum is happy to be joining coach ruff here in the east....

The Pirate Football team begins practice Thursday august 5th... One month before the season kicks off against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane...

This was my second year coming to the clinic and by far this was the best..and yes "Dave" we all werent the picture of perfection but it was a great time for all of us and myself not being 110 lbs and not looking like a Barbie doll enjoyed the heck out of it!! I have an old football injury from High School powder puff game of an acl injury and have to be extremely careful but I ran my not so perfect body everywhere everyone else did and enjoyed every minute of it. So look in the mirror before you pass judegement on us we are fans just as much as anyone big and small...and how babies have you given birth to and had to work at home and outside the home with not a whole lot of time for dont rain on our parade the staff did a great job and we thank the players for volunteering their time ...Go Pirates!

This was a great day and way to much fun..(ready to do it again this Saturday< LOL) I think the hands on play's and the way the coaches & players responded were just super. I think they had as much fun as we did. Can't wait till do agian......(I did want to kick that ball once, darn,) Ooo and just so you know, the coaches, the players that stayed behind to help out, plus Coach Ruffin were easy to speak with and interact...that says alot about a team, if they do that with us, you know they'll have a great bond w/the team...........GGGGGGGGooooooooooo Pirates...ARRRRRR..

something tells me the coaching staff probably had has much fun as the ladies LOL i have an idea why not have a brief touch football game 2 teams of the ladies at a half time or pre kickoff I am sure it would be great fun for fans and players (now i do mean touch football) no one wants to see injuries. Welcome coach Ruff and staff go pirates!
