GREENVILLE, N.C. - First-year head coach Ruffin McNeill and senior inside wide receiver Dwayne Harris represented the ECU football team in Memphis, Tenn., for the 2010 Conference USA Football Media Kickoff. All 12 head coaches and one player from each team in the league met with members of the television, radio and print media to preview the upcoming season.
After the wave of coaches answered questions, the players faced the media and most of the questions in the first group were directed at the Pirate senior wide receiver.
Harris touched on his excitement about playing in the new offense under Coach McNeill. His thoughts were met with laughter from the media.
"Last year with Coach Holtz it was more of a conservative kind of offense. It was run first then pass second. But with Coach Ruff, it's more of a pass first, pass second, pass third, think about running on fourth."
Harris went on to talk about the excitement in the Pirate Nation about not only the team but the stadium expansion as well.
"Everybody is excited. New Coach. Excited to see what he's going to do. New addition to the stadium with 7,000 more people. For the fans, I know they're excited. They love us anyway, win, lose or draw. I think it's going to be a great season.'
The Pirates open the season September the 5th against Tulsa at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
