Former UNCW Coach Headed To ECU

According to WECT-TV in Wilmington, former UNCW head coach Ann Hancock is headed to ECU. Here is the story courtesy of Bob Bonner and

After her contract was not renewed at UNCW, Ann Hancock is set to join the Women's Basketball coaching staff at East Carolina where she will be an assistant to first year coach Heather Macy.

Sources with knowledge of the hire have confirmed Hancock's move to Greenville. ECU officials could not comment on the hire saying only that Macy is close to filing out her staff.

Hancock leaves UNCW after ten seasons as the head coach. Her teams went 2-6 against ECU over her career at UNCW.

In her final season the Seahawks compiled a record of 12-19 and a tenth place finish in CAA play (6-12).

The Elizabethtown native leaves UNCW with a 138-156 overall record and a 72-91 ledger in the CAA.

Hancock's best season came during the 2002-03 campaign when she was named the CAA Coach of the year after the Seahawks eclipsed the 20-win mark for the first time since joining the NCAA. UNCW finished with a 22-6 overall record and was ranked in the top-10 in scoring defense and defensive field goal percentage.

CONTINUED: Mr. Jimbo: Sir, it's very simple. Click here on WITN Sports>ECU Sports and you'll find ALL the ECU disciplinary problems that I referred to. I'll wait for you response/rebuttal. Thank you

Mr. Jimbo: Facts: 1. Since last December-Apr ECU discipline infractions totaled 14. The infractions come from the basketball, baseball and football programs. You can about them right here on this WITN site. 2. If you have monitored the other articles those infractions have been well exposed including players kicked-out of their respective programs. 3. I have followed college sports for a long time and I have never seen that many infractions in such a short period. Only the University Of Oregon(OU) program have fared worse than ECU because of the severity of the infractions. OU had to suspend their FB team starting QB for the 2010 season. 4. Mr. Holland's rules circumvention to provide a relative with a scholarship is way far from a leadership example. 5. Hires Mr. Moore followed by a press conference and then has to hire another coach. If this isn't embarrassing I don't know what it is. 6. Mr. Holland would had long been fired from any other school than ECU. CONTINUED

How is Terry Holland ruining ECU sports Me? Can you provide examples? Just curious as I don't see it that way and, perhaps, you have some information I don't. From my perspective he's the best AD we've ever had at ECU in terms of competitiveness (other than men's bball), facilities, grad rates?

To be released as a coach from UNCW is a major plus on any resume. That AD is mass producing train wrecks down there.
