ECU Players Talk About Ruffin And Jackson

Players are speaking out after head Coach Ruffin McNeill kicked one player off the team and suspended another following their arrests early Sunday morning.

Brandon Jackson's ECU football career is now over after McNeill fired his running back from the program.

Jackson along with 21 year old ball carrier Giavanni Ruffin were arrested Sunday morning for being drunk and rowdy outside a bar in downtown Greenville according to authorities.

Ruffin is suspended indefinitely from the team.

On Monday, players spoke candidly about their coach's decision to lay down some harsh punishments.

Josh Smith, a Defensive Tackle said, "I agree with what Coach Ruff's done. I respect him for making that decision. I know it's a hard decision but that's what you gotta do in that kind of situation."

And Dwayne Harris, a Wide Receiver said, "When you do something and you mess up. It's like you at home, your mom and dad you get in trouble you know they're going to discipline you."

Both players may face academic disciplinary action from the university as well.

A1: Should I say you're smart or thank you? Either way I WIN, period... Mr. Barry: I'd love to read the GPDR. Are they public records? Are there any lawyers around? Later!

deadfish: Your last post is something that we can agree on at long last again. Thank you good sir. Well said. VTC just happens to be right about the G. Ruffin situation and obviously knows what happened on the evening this transpired. I'll not condone what B. Jackson did, but everyone should hold their fire on the G. Ruffin situation until all the facts come out. You'll see. There is another side to his story.

Gregory: This is NOT a forum to discuss illegitimate children. Your opening statement regarding that subject is totally irrelevant. BTW you are also out of line NOT to mention your obvious arrogance. IF you are rich and privileged very few if any here care, please? You were so busy with your immaculate conception sermons that it wasn't until your post last sentence that you finally addressed the subject.

For all the people who want to put the poor, disadvantaged boys (they are supposed to be men - I wonder how many illegitimate children they have produced and abandoned?) in a "program": I am sick of spending OUR tax money (the vast majority of people in these programs never pay a dime in taxes) on worthless programs designed to buy votes! Coach Ruffin took exactly the right action and if the immature boy who was suspended screws it up one more time, he should be dismissed from the team.

Awesome!!! Sounds like Coach Ruffin will not be giving any slack to those who cannot stay in line and be committed to ECU, the football team, and the coach. GREAT JOB!!! Skip would have just patted them on their hands and told them to get back to practice. Coach Ruff and the new basketball coach WILL be instilling discipline on the players. If the players don't like it, I would suggest leaving now.

I support you coach! This is not acceptable behavior.

I saw a news clip recently with Jonathan Williams catching a pass during practice. Don't worry...he'll get in trouble soon and will be walking the plank! Way to go, Coach McNeill!! Good call!!!
