Pirates Drop In Baseball Polls after 1-3 Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Despite a 1-3 week during its recent west coast road trip, the East Carolina baseball team still remains ranked in four of the six national polls that were released Monday afternoon.

The Pirates (8-6) are ranked No. 16 by Rivals.com (down six spots), No. 20 by Baseball America (down six), No. 21 by Ping!Baseball (down four) and No. 25 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (down eight). ECU received 36 votes for the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll and dropped out of Collegiate Baseball's Top 30 rankings.

This week's ranking marks the 24th consecutive week, dating back to the start of the 2009 season that the Pirates have been ranked in at least one national poll.

ECU will play 14 of its next 15 games at home starting with a midweek match up against Gardner-Webb on Tuesday, Mar. 16 with a first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. (EDT).

To billy---that's why you are a fan and not a coach! ECU has to play better teams to keep there RPI down and to get experience playing the better teams. The teams you are talking about are not in the CWS so it does us no good to play them. coach Godwin knows what he is doing when scheduling these games and he is an outstanding Coach so sit back and watch as he fires this team up and we go on a 15 game winning streak...Go Pirates!!!!

This experience will teach ECU that they need to work harder if they expect to reach the CWS. If you want to be the best you have to compete with the best teams from around the country. Go Pirates.

What does ECU Gain by playing these games on the west coast?.They Lost games out there & dropped in the polls. If ECU wants to get to Omaha the schedule needs to be tweeked some.Just my thought. Nowhere to go but down by playing these better teams. There are plenty of teams on the east coast we could play & Win a bunch of them,so why fly out 3000 miles to play.It Make absolutely no sence.
