East Carolina Amends Terry Holland's Contract

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina University Board of Trustees, in an unanimous vote Friday, approved a three-year extension of athletics director Terry Holland’s contract until Dec. 31, 2014.

The contract, which was originally set to expire in 2011, will continue Holland’s annual salary at $356,400.

ECU Chancellor Steve Ballard noted that none of his senior administrators are receiving raises in the current budget climate.

Holland, who was appointed to his position in 2004, has overseen athletics department improvements such as higher academic achievement by student-athletes, increased attendance at football games and enhanced facilities.

The Board of Trustees also officially approved the five-year contract of head football coach Ruffin McNeill during the session. The Board's Executive Committee had endorsed a memorandum of understanding with McNeill during a conference call on his hiring date of Jan. 21.

Holland is a class act. Sure Stokes was a dissapointment, but Look At The Baseball team & The Holtz Hire.Guess "Dave" thinks those were bad hires also.Get A Life Dave Everyone knows that ECU Basketball will probably never be good.It Has been that way for Years & Years. No one mentions the improvements to the Baseball stadium & Just look at out Football stadium All the other fields under construction. Also i must say that Football receipts are helping to fund these improvements. Do The Math "DAVE" .ECU Averages 40,000 Per Home Game for football,VS 30,000 Before Holland. The Extra 8-10 Thousand seats sold X say $20.00 Per Ticket is the Difference. I Know that Wins sell tickets & The Wins came with Holtz's Hire & Succcess .Is is possible that McNeill will carry us up to the next level? One would think so,& If so another 5000 or so tickets will help us get to the next level. Regardless,We Are better off with Holland & McNeill than the Sorry AD & Coach(Thompson) were.

This place is so sad, they are probably going to put up a bronze statue to honor this man. Tell me ECU faithful, what has this man done for the basketball team?? Why are you still in CUSA?? How about the hiring of Ricky Stokes?? Hmmm...

pirate: he's so classy, sure. Did you ask him about the $25K scholarship to his relative? Taking advantage of his position is definitely a great mark of his so called leadership, HUM? WHY NOT P&G approves his questionable leadership. That is if you call that leadership...

This is a very good thing for East Carolina University. Terry Holland's leadership and can do attitude has brought Pirate sports to a new level. As a Pirate fan and fellow employee of the University, I am glad that Coach Holland is on our side. I think he will be able to move ECU to the BCS level, which is exactly waht the University needs. Congrats to Coach Holland on his extension and GO PIRATES!!!!
