ECU Signs Additional Football Player

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Lance Lewis, a wide receiver who prepped at Concord (N.C.) High School and recently closed out a two-year stay at East Mississippi Community College, has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend and play football at East Carolina University according to an announcement from head coach Ruffin McNeill Wednesday.

The addition of Lewis increases the number of ECU newcomers to 19 during the traditional February signing period after 18 prospects inked with the Pirate program Feb. 3.

Lewis is expected to enroll at East Carolina this summer.

It will stay under raps until decision is made. They will probablly lose some scholars and maybe a bowl game. These are major violations but as I stated before USC is a cash cow so it should be interesting. Ruling should come soon. It will be hard to protect them because these were major violations.

Bud: Sir, I don't pamper USC like you sanctimoniously down play ECU. I report accurately good, bad, ugly or indifferently. I strongly suggest you read about the Reggie Bush situation instead of irresponsibly and inaccurately gossiping about it. I haven't tagged ECU with anything. I have repeated what WITN and WNCT have reported. By your own admission you have NOT researched yet you have irresponsibly commented. Let's be fair shall we? Thanks

I do practice law my 2nd year and not to say I am a trial lawyer who does not deal with sports but injury claims. However this will favor USC in this trial and the self imposed sanctions were not harsh. This is what schools do to try to avoid prohbation and scholar money which is key. It is obvious that they cheated and got caught or if you are a lawyer or Tiger Woods you use TRANSGRESSIONS. I am a tarheel so everyone will hate me but it is nothing more than time before it unfolds. Schools like USC are more protected becasue they are a cash cow unlike UCF who just got two years. It should be interesting. By the way who said the PAc 10 is as good as the SEC what an idiot.

Mr. Bud, Sir: Thank you. Just like I gave-up on with the ECU VS Duke recruiting subject you might as well give-up trying to sell me ECU/G'ville>I will NOT buy, period-with ALL due respect that IS. Back to USC, the school admn. took responsibility for the OJ Mayo situation and self imposed a very hard punishment. They did NOT take any chances with RB Joe McKnight and banned him from the Emerald Bowl. The Reggie Bush situation is entirely different and more complicated. When researching any NCAA investigation you must keep in mind that they don't have any subpoena powers which favors who is investigated. By the same token the burden of proof is much lower than in a court room. I am NOT a lawyer but lawyers have posted what I've just said. In addition to ESPN, and have covered USC. ESPN has NOT been exactly friendly towards USC lately. The LAT has always been tough and forever critical of USC. CONT>

Deadfish. All the local media covers ECU because it's the LOCAL UNIVERSITY. The LA media has UCLA and USC right there, and all the other Cal wherevers just like we have the UNC system. The Triangle Area has UNC, NCSU and Dook; we have ECU. I'm sure the LA media doesn't ignore one team for preference of another, but I bet they report more about the closest university than one 300 miles away. Same for our media. We're not gonna talk about Wake Forest, it's not relevant to our geographic location. As for Clay Matthews, I'm not sure why you're name dropping. What does he have to do with any part of this story or discussion? Watch, I can name drop too! Chris Johnson! David Garrard! Jeff Blake! I want to know why you didn't compare USC's transgressions to the one's you apply to ECU? I said the whole USA would agree that paying OJ Mayo and giving Reggie Bush all that free stuff far outweighs the things you tagged to ECU. How do you feel about that?

Continuing. If you're familiar with the location of ECU, then you must know it sits riiiight on the fringe of Scarytown, USA. That said, for you to lump the activities of downtown Greenville in with ECU is asinine. ECU doesn't sponsor bars downtown and has no control over what goes on. Having been downtown last Halloween, I can attest that the majority of the population consists of about 35% ECU kids and 65% people from the neighboring areas who are not students and never attended ECU. Besides, when's the last time you heard of an ECU student shooting anybody downtown? *See police reports for all the students who are robbed and shot; what's the description of the perpetrator? And as for the stupid fight at the bowl game, the player involved was Mr. Williams, a hometown guy who thinks he can do anything apparently, and a repeat offender who shouldn't be on the team period. Every team has a bad apple or two, it's inevitable. Continuing again ->
