In regulation, the Pirates (5-7) led 73-71 with 19 seconds left on Jamar Abrams' 3-pointer. Dwayne Smith grabbed a rebound, then hit a jumper at the buzzer to force overtime.

Brock Young, who led East Carolina with 20 points and 10 assists, hit two free throws in overtime to tie the game at 76, then made two more for a tie at 78 with 1:28 left.

Hollis went to the line for the last time with 9 seconds left to seal the win for the Colonials, who are 4-0 on the road.

ECU basketball is a national embarrassment. That is why they will never get into the Big East.

With 1 second in regulation and the ball is on the floor you have to dive on it, not just look at the other team keep shooting. When you down by two with 19 seconds you have to foul and know without the whole bench screaming, and don't foul the best shooter on the team. Then the best shooter takes the ball out and they don't foul the guy he throws it to, they let the best guy get the ball back and foul him. This was my first game of the year and ecu had several chances to win. Can't make free throws and why was wynn on the bench the second half so much, after having a great first half. Brook played a great game and should have had a lot more assist if we could finish the play on his passes on his drives. We beat ourself.
