Spurrier, Beamer and Kelly Show Some Love To The Pirates

East Carolina received a total of 37 points from the 15 votes they received. The highest ranking the Pirates received was #21 from TCU's head coach, Gary Patterson. The Pirates were slotted at #22 by a pair of C-USA coaches, Tulane's Bob Toledo and Houston's Kevin Sumlin.

David Bailiff of Rice and Neil Callaway of UAB included the Pirates on their final regular season ballots. Larry Fedora and Tommy West both included Houston on their ballots while leaving the Pirates without their votes.

Other coaches to cast votes for the Pirates are Robb Akey of Idaho, Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer, Al Golden of Temple, Cincinnati's Brian Kelly, Jim Leavitt from South Florida, UCLA's head coach Rick Neuheisel, Steve Spurrier, Rick Stocksill from Middle Tennessee, Charlie Weatherbie from Louisiana-Monroe and Washington State's Paul Wulff.

ECU did not receive any votes from other North Carolina institutions. The coaches of Duke, UNC, NC State and Wake Forest all have votes in the USA Today poll. North Carolina received two votes in the poll as a result of Butch Davis slotting the Tar Heels at #24.

Dave? You've gone strangely silent. Break your keyboard? What's the matter, has your behavior here the last few years made you reluctant to share?

Well Billy O, I am leaving ECU/Greenville in May 2010. I hope to work ANYWHERE in Butler, Beaver, or Washington counties.

Dave: OK, we know that the Steelers are reeling. That's obvious. The team has quit on the coach and it's ugly. The question I'm politely asking again is, when will you be leaving ECU and which lucky Allegheny County district get's your services?

6-7 now and they will finish 6-10. Oh well, Lombardi #7 will have to wait another year.

You guys are hurting Dave's feelings.

Well Dave...? Inquiring minds want to know. By the way: 6-7.

Sorry Darren but your cheater Patriots will not win another Super Bowl agian unless Belichick starts spying again. As for ECU being good, good is a point of view.

To Old Guy, anonymous could be JD Lad as well. Spurrier, Beamer, and Kelly are smart coaches then. Dave, your Steelers wont get another superbowl win for a long time. My New England Patriots will get more than 6 total as long as we have Tom Brady under center before he retires. Plus, your Steelers were given a win in the superbowl against the Seahawks. It sure was not earned. You can thank Chuck Noll,, Lynn Swann and Terry Bradshaw for the first 4 Lombardi trophys, which were in the old days. I also say with the fact that the pirates beat the ACC CHAMPS last year, it influenced Frank Beamer on voting ECU and knowing that our football team is that good.

Artful dodge there Dave. You mention "6 Lombardi's". Allow me to mention a few other 6's. 6-6. LOL! So when and in which Pittsburgh district will you start your teaching career? As a born and bred gratefully ex-Harrisburg and Pa. resident, I know Pittsburgh schools fairly well. Most of my family lives in Allegheny County. Aunts/Uncles and cousins teach in various Allegheny County schools. Good luck, you're gonna need it. Couldn't happen to a more deserving fella.

Well Billy O, let me tell you this. The Steelers have a great coach despite having an off year but those 6 Lombardi's sure look nice and shiny up there in the Burgh. NO OTHER TEAM CAN SAY THAT!! As for Cowher, Carolina can have him.
