ECU/WVU Game Time Set For 3:30pm

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The kickoff time for East Carolina's non-conference contest against West Virginia, scheduled for September 12 at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, has been set for 3:30 p.m. (EDT) according to an announcement by WVU Director of Athletics Ed Pastilong Wednesday afternoon.

The game between the Pirates and Mountaineers will be streamed live online on - ESPN's signature broadband sports TV network.

The Mountaineers, one of three Bowl Championship Series (BCS) opponents on ECU's 2009 schedule along with North Carolina and Virginia Tech, will look to extend a 12-game home winning streak against the Pirates. After falling to WVU 48-7 during its last matchup in Morgantown two years ago, East Carolina rebounded to post a 24-3 victory over the then eighth-ranked Mountaineers last September 6 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

In all, the two programs have squared off against each other on 20 previous occasions, including seven consecutive meetings beginning in 2002.

Fifth-year head coach Skip Holtz has led the Pirates to three consecutive bowl appearances for the first time since 1999-2001 and their first-ever Conference USA championship after ECU earned a 9-5 mark last season - the program's highest win total in nine years.

The Pirates will report to preseason camp Thursday, Aug. 6 before officially opening the ’09 campaign Sept. 5 against three-time Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) national champion Appalachian State.

East Carolina has one of the toughest slates this year. I bet the Gamecocks wish they had kept Skip Holtz. ECU plays tough teams out of conference. Most of the ACC and SEC plays weak Div 2 teams. For example FLorida may be champs and number 1 in the nation but out of conference they have Troy, Florida Atlantic and Charleston Southern. Might as well put the boy scouts in there some where. Go Pirates!! We only want the big teams and no Clemson we didn't forget how you backed out a few years ago. That would had been a great game, but you wanted play Furman instead.
