Wolfpack's Amerson Having Rough Year In Secondary

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina State entered the season figuring it could count on returning All-American David Amerson to make things difficult on receivers downfield. Instead, the cornerback is having a rough season heading into a home game with No. 3 Florida State.

Amerson gave up two long touchdown passes in the opening loss to Tennessee. Last week at Miami, Amerson was repeatedly beaten in coverage for touchdowns and even jumped offside trying to block a short field goal to give up a first down.

Amerson set an Atlantic Coast Conference record with 13 interceptions last year.

Amerson says he's "just got to move on" from the Miami game and focus on the fundamentals. Seminoles quarterback EJ Manuel says his receivers are eager for the challenge of facing Amerson.
