UNC's Morin, Emanuel Earn All-America Honors

TUCSON, Ariz. - A pair of North Carolina pitchers earned Louisville Slugger All-America honors Thursday as announced by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Junior right-hander Michael Morin was named to the first team and sophomore starter Kent Emanuel claimed third team honors.

Morin becomes the first Tar Heel closer since Andrew Carignan in 2007 to earn a first team All-America honor after leading the ACC in saves with 17. Morin has made 34 appearances on the year and thrown 54 1/3 innings for the Tar Heels, while posting a 48 to 17 strikeout to walk ratio. Morin's 0.83 ERA would go down as the second-lowest single season ERA in school history.

Emanuel earned Baseball America Freshman All-America honors a year ago and became the 42nd player in school history to earn All-America honors when he was named to the Louisville Slugger All-America Third Team Thursday. Emanuel owns an 8-4 mark with a 2.03 ERA in 2012 and is one strikeout shy of 100 for the season.
