CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina freshman P.J. Hairston has tweeted that he won't play this weekend at No. 1 Kentucky due to an injured left wrist.
Hairston hurt his wrist when he tried to brace his fall during the second half of Wednesday night's 60-57 win against No. 9 Wisconsin. Hairston left for the locker room with about 12 minutes left.
On Hairston's Twitter account, he posted Thursday that he didn't have a fracture, adding "I'll be back ripping the net soon."
Team spokesman Matt Bowers says doctors are still evaluating Hairston's injury. The fifth-ranked Tar Heels play the Wildcats on Saturday.
The 6-foot-5 reserve is averaging 8.3 points off the bench and shooting 45 percent from 3-point range, best among the team's regulars.
