UNC's Benton Moss Named Freshman All-America

TUCSON, Ariz. - Freshman right-hander Benton Moss was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America as announced by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Moss finished his first year as a Tar Heel with a 7-2 record and a starter-low 1.94 ERA.

Moss, a former WITN Player Of the Week, made 17 appearances, including 16 starts, for the Tar Heels as a freshman throwing 79 innings. The Rocky Mount, N.C., native struck out 83 batters and posted one of the lowest batting averages against in the ACC with a .218 mark.

Moss becomes the second straight freshman to lead the Tar Heels in ERA as Kent Emanuel paced the Tar Heels with a 2.33 ERA in 2011.
