CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has released more than 2,500 pages of documents connected to an NCAA investigation of the football program as part of a settlement to end a public-records fight with media outlets.
The documents include transcripts of player interviews, requests to reinstate players connected to violations and the school's response to the NCAA's notice outlining numerous violations for improper benefits and academic misconduct.
Many of the documents were released previously but were heavily redacted.
The university said it had provided everything it could without violating federal privacy laws. A judge ruled in August that academic violations were protected, but that benefits violations weren't covered.
The university also paid $45,000 in legal fees to media outlets, including The Associated Press, as part of the settlement.
