Ramsay Slowly Working His Way Back For Tar Heels

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- Devon Ramsay is hoping there's still time to find an onfield role with North Carolina this season.

The fullback was granted a sixth year after a suffering a serious knee injury in September 2011. But with a new coaching staff that doesn't use a fullback in its base offensive package, Ramsay has been working with the scout team at multiple positions trying to earn his way back.

The Tar Heels are banned from a bowl for NCAA violations, so they have just four games left -- starting Saturday against rival North Carolina State.

Ramsay says it's tough to fight for a job when everyone's roles are largely set. First-year coach Larry Fedora says he wants to see Ramsay build confidence during contact before he'll put him in a game.
