North Carolina's Henson Out Of NCAA Opener

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina junior John Henson won't play in the Tar Heels' NCAA tournament opener against Vermont due to a sore left wrist.

Henson was hurt when he fell to the court while being fouled during last week's Atlantic Coast Conference tournament. The 6-foot-10 junior had hoped to play in Friday's game, though coach Roy Williams didn't sound convinced that Henson was ready when he spoke with reporters after Thursday's practices.

Henson is a two-time ACC defensive player of the year. He averaged about 14 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for the Tar Heels, the top seed in the Midwest Regional.

The team ruled him out about 90 minutes before the game, long before the team warmed up. Freshman James Michael McAdoo will start for Henson.
