NC State, Wake Forest Begin ACC play

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Wake Forest and North Carolina State are playing their first Atlantic Coast Conference game a little earlier than their coaches might prefer.

The Demon Deacons (0-1) play host to N.C. State (1-0) on Saturday in the Wolfpack's earliest league opener since 2007.

Wolfpack coach Tom O'Brien says he'd rather open with four nonconference games before starting league play, but "this is the way the schedule breaks."

The focus will be on the two starting quarterbacks after strong opening games ended with opposite results.

Wake Forest's Tanner Price threw for three touchdowns in three quarters, but Syracuse rallied for an overtime win after he sprained his left knee.

Mike Glennon threw for 156 yards and a touchdown in his first career start for N.C. State, a 22-point win against Liberty.
