Kentucky, Syracuse, N. Carolina, MSU Get Top Seeds

The madness began even before the brackets came out. Kentucky, Syracuse and North Carolina all earned top seeding for the NCAA tournament despite unexpected losses in their conference tournaments.

Michigan State earned the last No. 1 seed in the pairings announced Sunday and is the only one of the four top-billed teams to win its conference tournament.

Next up, the NCAA tournament -- a 68-team free-for-all that begins with first-round games Tuesday. That's the first step en route to the Final Four, which begins March 31 in New Orleans.

Kentucky and Syracuse each enter the tournament with two losses. Both were shoo-ins for top seeds, though losses in their conference tournaments certainly make them look more vulnerable than they did only a week ago.

A link to the bracket is listed below.

What is ECU doing wrong? At least we were not facing NCAA violations just last year. I dont like it but I do agree UNC is a good team, but are not worthy of a #1 seed. As far as not being able to get out of C-USA, it is not our fault that the Big East felt that we do not have a tv market. Anyway yes I am a Purate and proud of it, I wear my purple with pride and have respect for visiting teams. I cant really say that for another team in this state that wears LIGHT BLUE.

UNC basketball is not facing NCAA violations...your complete post has now been deemed inaccurate and very stupid. Check your facts before you type...

Why hate on any ACC team that gets a bid? Im happy for all of them. I guess its true: Success brings jealousy. All the UNC haters should just refrain from the BS and go paint your faces Purple and Gold.

You Ayden resident must have a problem with ECU fans, and since you do, it doesn't make any sense for you to live in Ayden. I suggest you go live up along 15/501 with the rest of the UNC bandwagoners who stick with that holier than thou school with their snotty attitudes.

Thats right give CRY-O-LINA what they want every time. They didn't beat State, the refs did. Then they go and lose the ACC Championship to Florida State but still get a #1 seed? Just another reaason why I cant stand CRY-O-LINA.

There were bad calls on both sides during the State game. The refs acted like they wanted to be the ones playing the game instead of the players. You have to call a game consistant throughout, which they did not. They were way too involved. It could have just as easily been called a blocking foul. As for the number 1 seed, they won the outright season. Let me spell that out for you, they had the best record for the entire year. Not just a tournament. Jealous much?

Piarte / Hawk So some how the refs and the NCAA Selection Committee are all bias toward UNC ? Man that must be great to have that kinda pull. Wonder what ECU is doing wrong ? They can't get in any other conference. Call some one at UNC and ask what ECU needs to do. And stop whining !!

Three of the number 1 seeds lost their conference tournaments so whats your point? The seeding is not based on ONE GAME but the complete season...back to the kitchin with you with the rest of the girls and maybe if you listen they will teach you about sports.

The ACC tourney means absolutely nothing to a regular season champ except some extra icing on the cake. It's a money-maker for all conferences trying to squeeze in extra bids by playing well or winning the conference tournament. Syracuse and Kentucky lost in their tourney too but you aren't saying anything about that are you.

Explain why FSU beat UNC in the finals, AND put Duke out to get there? Both UNC and Duke got higher seeds than FSU. The answer: UNC 29-5, 17 ACC titles, perennial favorite,Duke 27-6, 19 ACC titles, another perennial favorite, FSU, 24-9, ONE ACC title, not a perennial to do anything. Their first title in 21 years of being in the conference, and they squeaked it out by 3 points after being up by around 16 points. So Carolina getting a top seed is not a joke , its called being a better team all-around, not just on one day.

I dont have a dog in this fight but I would suppose it was based on the complete year not just the ACC Tournament.

I know, that's why I included the season records in my answer to why UNC got a #1 seed. UNC 29-5, Duke 27-6, and FSU 24-9.

UNC got off to a terrible start today. They could not hit anything outside while Florida State was doing their usual hitting the big threes. After half time it seemed that UNC adapted to Floridas States game but it was just a little to late.I predicted yesterday they would win the ACC tournament and predicted they will win the national championship.I change my mind now after UNC came back from behind 16 points.I predict it will be UNC against somebody other than kentucky and Florida state.UNC seems to adapt well after being behind or a major loss.UNC or Duke will bring the BIG ONE HOME AGAIN!Go HEELS!or Duke.

You are spot on!! UNC has got to be the Best 2nd half team out there. I don't know what Roy's say's to them in the locker room but, it works. Congrats to FSU and go Heels!! As a Heels Fan I will say the better team won today.

I'm thinking that's why the refs were so bias against N.C.State so U.N.C could get a #1 seat, that's a lot of money coming to the A.C.C.,just wish it wasn't so obvious.Hope I don't get fined.
