WHEW! Duke Hangs On Against Butler 61-59

. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Duke won its fourth national championship Monday night, forcing Butler's Gordon Hayward to miss with 4 seconds left to hold off the Bulldogs 61-59 and end the tiny school's run at the title one game short of the perfect ending.

Kyle Singler had 19 for the Blue Devils and Brian Zoubek rebounded Hayward's miss and hit one free throw with 3.6 seconds left to give Duke a two-point lead.

Hayward rebounded Zoubek's intentional miss and threw up a desperation heave at the buzzer, that hit glass, bounced off the rim and out.

The win gave Mike Krzyzewski his first national title since 2001 and fourth overall, tying him with Adolph Rupp for second on the all-time list.

Darren: Since you brought it up,I'm a man. I'm neither a music weirdo nor a band freak. Furthermore,I lift weights and run on a regular basis, and am in better physical condition than a lot of younger guys that I know. I just get nothing out of watching, following,or talking about sports. My feeling this way does not make me any of the things you said. It just means I have an opinion that is different from that of the majority of others. Like I said before...it's just a game.

So what! Duke is still Puke, Carolina is still Carowhina, NCSux is still a joke in everything except for farming, Wake is still fake, and the NBA is much better basketball to watch than college. I will start watching college ball once my boy Reggie gets it done up in the hill. Why does college basketball become so much more popular than the NBA around here is one thing I have never understood.

To A, that's what you call a bandwagoner. If I-95 were a state line and you had such states as East Carolina and West Carolina (with Boone and Asheville), there would be not near as many Duke, UNC, or N.C. State fans east of I-95, let alone in Greenville. There are tons of bandwagoners in this area. Non-Sports fan, I sure hope you are a woman, cause what man does not like sports at all around typically is a music weirdo or a band freak.

Rich: No superiority complex here. I never said I was any better than anyone else, nor have I ever claimed to be an "intellectual". Pitiful grouch? That's quite a presumption to make just because I'm not into sports and am vocal about it. Actually,I'm just someone who, like everyone else who posts on here,is voicing an opinion...an opinion that you can likewise "skip over" if you don't agree with it. Like anyone else,I've been wrong before and will doubtless be wrong again. However, I still have the satisfaction of knowing that all of my postings on this topic ARE correct,in spite of your claims to the contrary.

Non Sports Fan, you are NOT correct. This is Greenville, North Carolina and Duke is right up the road. This means something to many people in this area and is newsworthy. Don't click on the story if its is meaningless to you. There are plenty of stories I skip over on this sight. Stop being such a pitiful grouch. You really need to work on your superiority complex by the way. I live to serve you and can't wait for your highly intellectual reply. Thank you, WITN, for posting such an important and uplifting story to so many people in this area.

Anonymous4-6-10 6:20 P.M.: Ouch, that one really hurt. I don't see how telling the truth can produce a self-made fool. On the other hand, foaming at the mouth with loyalty and support for a team from a school you never attended? DEFINITELY. By the way...I'm still right.
