Duke Headed To Indy For Final Four, 78-71 Over Baylor

HOUSTON (AP) -- Nolan Smith scored 29 points and Duke returned to the Final Four for the first time in six years by beating Baylor 78-71 on Sunday in the South Regional final, ending the Bears' road to college basketball redemption.

Jon Scheyer added 20 for the Blue Devils (33-5), the only No. 1 seed to advance to Indianapolis. It is their 11th trip to the Final Four under coach Mike Krzyzewski.

Duke will be playing in the national semifinals for the first time since 2004, against East Regional champion West Virginia. The Blue Devils have won 11 of their last 12 regional finals under coach Krzyzewski, but haven't won a national title since 2001.

Smith and Scheyer helped Duke offset a poor game from junior forward Kyle Singler, who was 0 for 10 from the field and only made five free throws. It was the first time in his college career he failed to hit a field goal.

I hope the winner of Michigan State and Butler takes the whole thing, preferably Butler. Those guys never got this far. Data Man, I'll have to agree with you for once. Coach K does get the refs to side with him. I have noticed a lot of that. Roy Williams does the same thing. Those two are two of a kind.

I wasn't arguing about NBA players with the guy, I was just stating that K can recruit decent players, and make a great team out of them.

Are colleges on break or something? If not how are these players missing all their classes, or is college not about the education, only about playing sports?

to moderators nightmare: duke actually has more NBA players than UNC right now. Duke has 14 to UNCs 13.

All the way, Duke fought hard for the win against Baylor, even without the scoring of Singler, they still won, no referee help just pure talent and team work. Team work is the key, they don't depend on one player like UNC used to do, can you say Hansborough?

okay people.. lets stop saying Duke pays the refs. really? how immature can you be. I was born and raised in Durham going to Duke basketball games and I know Coach K, he does not pay the refs. yall are simply being typical carolina fans, just because your team sucked you can't accept that Duke had a good season.

The Final Four should be re-seeded when two # 5s have to play each other in one bracket and #1 and # 2 to play each other for a chance to play a # 5. This is unfair to Duke or any other team that would be a # 1 seed.

You Duke haters are an ignorant bunch. Somebody asked me yesterday why Duke never puts many players into the NBA. I told them, its because coach K recruits players that will listen to his direction and play as a TEAM. I'll take a good team and beat great player anyday.
