CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina has reason to feel confident about taking on Georgia Tech's triple-option offense.
The No. 22 Tar Heels have been one of the nation's stingiest defenses through the first three games of the season. They also had success against Paul Johnson's Yellow Jackets last year, holding them to just one touchdown in an easy win.
The offense can be very demanding because it requires a defense to be disciplined about performing every single assignment. Coach Butch Davis says the Tar Heel coaches have worked with the team periodically about the triple option dating back to spring drills and preseason workouts so that it wouldn't all be new as the Tar Heels prepare for this weekend's trip to Atlanta.
