Tar Heels Eliminated From College World Series

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Kole Calhoun hit a game-tying grand slam in the fifth inning and a go-ahead double in the seventh, and Arizona State erased a four-run deficit in a 12-5 victory over North Carolina at the College World Series on Thursday night.

Calhoun has homered in each of the Sun Devils' CWS games and has
driven in 10 runs.

ASU (51-13), the No. 5 national seed, plays No. 1 Texas on Friday night. The Sun Devils have to win that game and another Saturday against the Longhorns to advance to next week's best-of-three finals. Carolina finished 48-18.

Josh Spence (10-1) allowed seven hits and four runs, three earned, in seven innings. Colin Bates (4-4) took the loss in relief of Matt Harvey, who threw a CWS-record four wild pitches.

Greenville native Ryan Graepel went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Yeah UNC baseball is very respectable, unlike the UNC fairweathers who deserve no respect. Not even any UNC alumni even has gone on here.

I'm an ECU fan and alumni but I will say great job UNC. Your baseball team is really classy and you made it to the CWS 4 in a row!

Where are all the UNC fans? When UNC beat ECU they were everywhere rubbing it in. Now they get beat and NO UNC fan has come here to congratulate their team for achieving four straight appearances to the CWS? They had a great season and the "fans" just disappear without a word? Talk about fair weather fans. Hold your heads high UNC baseball team, you have done a great job this year and although you have lost some players, I believe you will still have a great team next year.

Final Four: Texas, LSU, AZ State, Arkansas and I will be saying GO LSU! I did say the whole time (not on here I don't think) that the only teams I can see knocking out Texas and LSU are each other. That's why I had filled out my bracket and had those two in the national championship with Texas winning it all, but would rather it be LSU.

Why is this in the News section ? Should'nt it be confined to the Sports section ? Just curious.
