Experts say you need to watch out for ads with links to popular shopping sites; experts say, just stick to the main content on the sites you are familiar with.

Also, a lot of people are using debit cards instead of credit right now. However, if a thief online steals your debit card info, they have access to your bank account. If they steal your credit card, you at least have a better chance of disputing the charges with the company.

Also, experts say beware of really really good deals with online merchants you are not familiar with. Use multiple passwords at shopping sites. Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date.
