Greenville Police say a man and a woman are working together to scam people, and in both cases, the victims were elderly Greenville residents.

In one instance, police say the pair told the person at a home that they worked for Greenville Utilities and needed to check for a leak. Inside, the woman distracted the homeowner, while the man stole valuables.

Another time, the pair told a homeowner they worked for the City of Greenville and needed to trim tree branches before winter weather. The woman distracted the homeowner in the backyard while the man stole valuables at will.

Police say the two appear to be traveling in a large white SUV with a chrome grill or bumper.

A elderly friend of mine in Washington, NC received phone call from scammer saying her bank checking account info. has gotten onto the internet. They asked her to confirm her name, account numbers and last check number she wrote. Wachovia is aware of this scam in other states and advise customers to call their banks 800 number on their statements.
