The Raleigh Police Department says two senior citizens were stolen from when they apparently distracted by fake utility workers. Both incidents happened in Southwest Raleigh.
Both victims say the suspect came to their door and said they were gong to work on the water lines. The suspect then asked the homeowner to walk around back to look at the property lines.
At one home, the fake utility worker went inside to see if the water had a brownish tint.
Both victims later discovered items were missing from the homes. Police think the fake worker was working with an accomplice who stole the valuables while the owner was distracted.
Both victims said that the suspect was not wearing a uniform and did not provide identification.
Make sure you get property identification on a person who says the need to come on your property before allowing them to do so.
