It's something we all need to be vigilant about, people who want to scam us.

Senior citizens learned how to be proactive at the scam jam meeting at the Pitt County Senior Center, hosted by the Attorney General's office and WITN's Heather King.

One of the constant scams they say to watch out for is the bad check scam -- prize packages boasting thousands of dollars in winnings.

The second scam jam session will be held in Washington on Wednesday at the Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center.

Gotten call for my son in WV that he owes money and will be prosecuted to notify him. I got further calls threatening and agreed on Friday to pay his debt with my checkcard and gave them the number and as soon as I did I knew it was a scam. Googled the charge and found out it was Shepsu financial services Charlotte NC. I called my bank to cancel my Checkcard Since it is a holiday tomorrow I cannot do anything at the bank or call the FTC to file a complaint. The police came but did not feel is is a scam. I feel so violated`
