Why do we as americans have to make everything a black and white issue? I often find it difficult to understand why Obama is getting so much negativity yet no one has talked about the issue with Palin's daughter which has been reported that her daughter is pregnant by an african american? Let's give credit where credit is due and stop being so critical. Have you compared educational backgrounds of the candidates? Obama has done an exceptional job representing ALL. I am confident he will be our next president!!!

All this race discussion!!!!! For the record, I am a white female who is voting for McCain.  Why? Because, above everything else, I am a conservative and will never support a liberal.  The liberal philosophy has nearly destroyed everything American in our society. All the proven strong values that have made this country great, the freedoms afforded everyone have been eroded, not by George Bush, as the libs would have you believe, but by the liberals, themselves. Analyze any problem in our society; education, poverty, teen-age pregnancy, the economy, drugs, crime, on and on, and you realize the liberal view is the culprit. The basic views of no responsibility for one's action, rather blame others, can explain many of our problems. The justice system doesn't hold criminals responsible, the school systems won't hold students and parents responsible, parents won't hold their kids responsible, and individuals won't hold themselves responsible. Didn't use to be that way. God Help Us!!!!!!

It is absolutely amazing how ill-informed so many people are. For example, the No Child Left Behind legislation was co-written by Ted Kennedy. That's right, the almighty Democratic icon never charged or convicted for killing his "friend" in a car accident. George Bush is blamed completely for this bill and Kennedy has removed himself for any responsibility. Bet most teachers didn't know that. Secondly, I honestly don't know what some in this country, including Obama, are going to do after January. Who will they blame for the ills in our society. George will be back in Texas. Don't blame him. But, we all know they will continue to put everything on this shoulders, even, then. Because, you see, it has worked. During the first six years of Pres. Bush's tenure, things were pretty good. You never hear about the actual real numbers. For example, unemployment was the lowest in many years. Didn't know that did you and some probably don't care. Only want to hear the hate mongering.

To mjb, to answer your question, the reason Obama calls himself black, is because most whites consider a biracial child black, even though one of the parent is white. I have never in my life heard a white person acknowledge a biracial child race as being white. A biracial child is always accepted by the black race regardless of his/her skin color. I don't how old you are, but ask your parents about it or look at a biracial child's birth certificate. This is not meant to be funny but the truth.

To Mike: Amen, you are right on target, the people of this country need to sit up and take notice. The Bible speaks of the times. A man of middle east descent will come forth and many will believe. Beware

Posted by: Lady on Oct 7, 2008 at 09:57 AM
Just why in the hell are some of you people trying so hard to make Obama into a white man. You know some of you white men have nothing to be proud about. Oh I forgot I guess all you "JOE SIX PACKS" are proud of Palin portraying you as a lazy drunk. That is what the original JOE SIX PACK was. I guess you can call him trailer trash also. No your little miss bubble head never invented JOE SIX PACK, she is not that smart.

Posted by: Little Woman on Oct 7, 2008 at 09:22 AM
To mjb, I think you just answered your own question, if it were not a racial issue "YOU" would not be asking, why doesn't Obama call himself white. Why would he pick white over black? You know I can see for myself that there are hundreds of thousands of people are biracial and they are happy with their life and I am happy for them. The only time this racial issue has come up for the Whitehouse and some of you keep saying it is not about race. Why do the BLACKS\WHITES keep introducing the issue on here every day? I can see Obama is way blacker than he is white, to me he is black and that is "OK" I will vote for him Nov.4th because I can clearly see he is the man we need in the Whitehouse. Now you can step up and vote for him or go for more of the same. Obama\Biden 08

I am glad that for a change we have a choice. I am so sick of racism. The truth is enough white people are not afraid anymore. They step outside the box and got to know black people for the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Get use to it. God changed the hearts of the people and you can't blame anyone but Him.We are in this world together. Black has been voting for whites since voting was legal. Don't be a hater, just embrace the fact that God created us equal. Their are smart people in every race.God did not discriminate. Only people. We need to really search our hearts and decide, since a republican president drove us in the ditch, why in the world would we trust the same party to get us out of that ditch. People are not crazy. McCain cheated on his first wife for a rich woman. So he lived a wonderful life while his wife had to endure the pain of a car accident and raising HIS children on child support payments. Is that the character of a great man? PLEASE.

Posted by: Devil Dog Location: New Bern on Oct 7, 2008 at 07:02 AM
To Steve and mjb...Thanks for telling it like it is. For the past 20 years, our children have been "indoctrinated", in schools and colleges, by the offspring of the "nitwits" of the 60's. In other words, the "Flower Childrens" children. History and Civics have been condensed in the public schools to a point of being ridiculous. The next phase to this is SOCIALISM. Get a copy of the CD called "OBSESSION". If that don't open your eyes nothing will.

Posted by: Steve Location: Kinston on Oct 7, 2008 at 12:12 AM
Has any of you noticed that"ashamed" is an anomaly. Most of the people "ashamed" of America are rich loonie liberals who sit on their yachts and vacation in exotic places, all the while pontificating their anti-American views. Well I will say it and I will say it loud--If you are ashamed of America, leave and go to some wonderful place. France and Africa would probably offer your kind a wonderful reception when you get there. And when you leave, please stay there for the rest of your natural life. The change will do real Americans "good".

Posted by: mjb Location: windsor on Oct 6, 2008 at 11:23 PM
If race isn't an issue why doesn't Obama call himself white? Wasn't his mother white? Usually the race of the mother is listed as the race of the child on a birth certificate. Can anyone explain this? Is he so ashamed of his mother that he changed his birth certificate? I have seen where he quoted in his books that he was "ashamed" of his white grandparents.

If Obama is to fullfill all his promises he will have to become a dictator. Since our democratic congress has a 17% rating, does this mean Obama can have his way with congress. Again its time to limit the terms of all members of congress. If the president has a limit why not congress.

I admire all noble profession that do a hard job for less than worthy wages but it is a choice and if you can't live doing it than you make a change. Obama is going to do one thing promised and thats increase taxes on those that hire the middle class employee and those employers/business owners will stream line and it will only hurt the middle class American. Statistics show that the top 25% of earners in this country pay 80% of the taxes. To help this economy we need less government involvemment. FYI, the $700B bailout last week let lenders and homebuilders off the hook and all those people wanting to buy or sell a house are getting no help, zero, nata. No oil drilling in Alaska or offshore means it all goes thru Texas and Texans love that.

Posted by: ??? Location: NC on Oct 6, 2008 at 04:12 PM
All I can say is so what if the economy is better if all your constitutional rights are gone?Or your have socialized medicine and have to go to the doctor that the government chooses for you now matter if he is a quack or not.Just listen to people talk about how screwed up medicare is now, so how bad would it be with Big Brother trying to control everyones medical care? I dont believe Barack's or Michelle's lies.I am thoroughly disgusted that my country may be on the edge of falling to the lowest it has been in my lifetime.less just hope that a miracle will happen, or God will intervene. Whatever it takes to keep Obama out of office.

I am so not suprised to see that racism is still alive and well in NC. When are we going to let Jim Crow die? Why does it matter what color or gender anyone is? I plan to vote Obama, not because he's black but because I cannot afford 4 more years like the last 8. I am a teacher and I live paycheck to paycheck. I cannot afford to let popularity dictate my survival. I need a change that alters NCLB to something that actually supports research based education. I need a CHANGE that doesn't allow my gas budget to outstrip my food budget for the month. And personally, I don't want someone who sues a state for putting polar bears on the endangered list because it limits her ability to drill in a wildlife refuge. If McCain dies in office, she will be president. Does anyone seriously want someone with her track record for unethical behavior in office? (Think Clinton) The worst you can say about Obama is that you don't like his friends and associates. He at least isn't a cheating, powermonger.

Michelle Obama does not have what it takes to be first lady. First ladies do not make comments like this is the 1st time I've been PROUD of my country. Sarah Palin has what it takes. She and John McCain have always been proud of their country. For me I have to say,"I cling to my GOD, My guns and My country and I WILL VOTE FOR McCain/Palin!" I do not believe in wealth redistribution!I do not believe government needs to take care of me!The democratic party has gotten out of hand and no longer represents the majority in their party.Face it the Democratic party has been hijacked by the hard left liberal minority and Hollywood.Wake up Americans, smell the coffee! When Obama says you should be proud to pay more taxes, thats ludicrous!Yea he'll redistribute it wisely, and it will go to the middle class. Right, if you believe that I have a bridge I'd like to sell you!I have an idea for those of you who would like to pay more taxes go ahead if you believe it will be well spent.

You're probably a man using this kind of pseudonym. :) For those of you who are unaware, people often use pseudonymity to make their comments seem more authoritative or credible on these blogs.

This is in response to mikes comments: Please inform me on just how much "Washington " experience Palin has? If Im not mistaken it would be about "0"! Barack Obama speaks of change, because he is change. He is the breath of fresh air that WE as americans need these days. After years of beating around the "BUSH" who in their right mind wants more of what republicans have to offer. Mcain saw how much power the word change had over people and decided to adopt the slogan, but with no substance behind it. Mcain isnt change he is more Bush, more problems for america, more heart ache for the working people. Unless you dont own a home, or plan to ever own one, or own a car, or plan to ever have one, have kids and want them to be able to go to college and acheive what you never had. Voting for Obama wouldnt make sense for you. See im a college educated man, a working professional. I want my child to grow up and acheive too. Dont you worry help is on the way and his name is OBAMA!!

We are not the one's with closed minds. Did you read D.D's. comments? These are FACTS about your obama and the people he chooses to associate with. You people are the one's that refuse to look at and accept these FACTS. You are the one's that are closed minded and blind. Why aren't these issues talked about by the media as they do McCain/Palin? Liberal media. You are voting for obama either because he is black or because you so blindly follow like a sheep. How can I say this; because obama has done NOTHING in his SHORT political career that would make him worthy or capable of being president.

You sure make your self look like a total imbecile by quoting your so called facts. Most of the time you completely contradict your self, You are unbelievable. You ramble on like some lunatic, I guess that is your way of dealing with losing the Election. Just about four more weeks and you can rest your keyboard finger.

I want to know how a Constitutional lawyer is qualified to be Commander and Chief. I want know why she hasn't released her college thesis, and is waiting until after the election. I want to know her husbands ties to the group ACORN, who are now registering bogus voters in 14 States. I want to know her husbands involvement, and the rest of the black caucus members, with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I want to know when Congressman FRANK, Senator DODD , and Congressman MEEKS are going to admit their failures to tell the truth to the mortgage meltdown. I want to know why her husband thinks SOCIALISM is better than CAPITALISM. I want to know her husbands connection to William Ayers(unrepentant terrorist) and Tony Rezsco. I want to know how much money Iran, China, and Dubai have contibuted to his campaign. I think we are going to revisit the 60's. Been there and it wasn't pretty!!! Wake up AMERICA.

Much rather spend my day with Michelle than Palin. People are becoming star struck with Palin. Never mind she's in no way ready to be in the White House. If she does make it there it will be the scariest time in American History. Don't go see Palin and expect to here the issues because now their campaign has decided to attack hard. That's because they are scared and they have nothing else to say. So that's their last resort. Sad don't you think? Shows what losers they are.

To Dona...He will give it to Fannie/Mae and Freddie/Mac for the 3 trillion dollars in loans the taxpayers got stuck with. CONGRESS knew about the problems for years and swept it under the table. Barney Frank(D) is on tape saying they were well run. I'm sure McCain will blast away next debate. OBAMAS economic advisor (Raines) was the CEO and got millions after he left. You don't hear that on the LIBERAL news stations.
