Governor Palin Spoke To Thousands On ECU Campus Save Email Print

Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin spoke at ECU's Minges Coliseum Tuesday evening. Thousands of people gathered to hear her speak.

Palin's was scheduled to take the podium at 7 p.m., but her plane did not land in Greenville until about that time. She started speaking closer to 7:30 p.m.

The Republican vice-presidential candidate talked about ECU’s recent football success and how she and John McCain hoped to succeed in the White House.

"John McCain and I know that the people of Greenville and that the people of the country are ready to shake up Washington," Palin said.

Palin said no matter your party, she and McCain are asking for your vote, to put them in Washington D.C. and put government back on your side.

She briefly mentioned her debate with Democratic vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Palin talked about reform of government, the $10 trillion national debt, senior citizens, taxes and the war, saying McCain, unlike his opponent, isn’t afraid to use the word “victory.”

She talked about McCain’s 22 years in uniform. She asked all the military in the audience to raise their hands.

Her recurring them was putting government back on the side of the people. When she talked about Obama, the crowd roared and chanted "Nobama, Nobama."

Palin also talked about drilling for oil now, in America.

After the rally at ECU, Palin stopped to watch the debate at a pizza restaurant in Greenville.

Boli's hosted the Alaskan Governor for a post-rally slice of pizza and a pint of beer. More than 30 locals watched the presidential debate on television with Palin. The VP candidate stayed at Boli's for the entire debate before leaving Greenville.

On Monday McCain and Palin supporters waited in line for hours to get their hands on a pair of tickets to see Sarah Palin Tuesday night.

The Pitt county Republican Campaign headquarters handed out 200 tickets in Greenville. People were allowed to take two tickets to attend Tuesday night's GOP rally held inside Williams Arena at Minges coliseum on the campus of East Carolina University.

The rally starts at 4 pm; Sarah Palin is scheduled to speak around 7pm.

Michelle Obama, the wife of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, will also be in eastern Carolina Tuesday.

Michelle Obama will host a community event with military families at the Jacksonville Commons recreation center at 1:30.

Stay tuned to WITN and witn.com throughout the day for complete coverage and updates.

Previous Story:

People were told to sign up for the tickets and then they could pick them up Saturday morning.

Many Pitt County Palin fans who didn't sign up earlier were turned away and told to come back for some. Those who *did* get their name down on the list and got their tickets were excited about the rally.

Previous Story:

Four weeks before the presidential election and Sarah Palin will hold a campaign rally at ECU. Click the story to learn where tickets can be obtained.

The McCain-Palin ticket will make its first visit to Eastern Carolina with a campaign stop in Greenville.

On Tuesday Governor Sarah Palin will conduct a Road to Victory rally at Minges Coliseum.

Doors to the rally are set to open at 4:00 p.m.

The coliseum holds 8,000 and party officials expect tickets to go fast. They can be obtained free of charge at any of the 14 McCain-Palin Victory Offices in North Carolina.

Headline Nov 5th, 2008: DEMOCRATS BEWILDERED OVER

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Oct 15, 2008 at 05:02 PM
To Anonymous in Elizabeth City (Oct 14th @ 0916am); Let me set you straight. I am not well off. I have been laid off, and not yet off the 'soup line' as I like to call it. I am a Republican. Do I agree with everything they do blindly just to tow the party line? Absolutely not! Do I always vote for them? Hell yes! Why? Because nothing that the Democrats have to offer can I swallow. Everything I support and believe is only represented on this side. One of the biggest problems in out party is that the Republicans haven't been acting or supporting their own party. They keep trying to find the middle ground and attempting to placate the left. That is why our party is in such disarray. In case you didn't know, McCain isn't really a Republican, he is a moderate sitting right on the fence. But he is what the party gave us, so he is who we will vote for. Real Conservatism works every time it is tried, however it has been awhile since we actually practiced it. Obama will send us off a cliff!

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Oct 14, 2008 at 10:03 AM
First to clarify a position of me as poster. I am a registered democrat of thirty some years, not a middle class salary and never throw out the race card. Most democrats are moderate, not liberal. The problem is the association is now drawn as being all liberal. To explain NC, it is mostly moderate and will vote as it has for the last 3 decades for republican canidate. This time there is even a woman running even better. If Colin or Condi would be on the ticket, even better. We want moderate presidents. Ones that believe in god and country. Obama doesn't demonstate either. In fact he is scary due to his associations. Swing state, not really, that is the media hype and the polls that reflect media research. Last night Fox revealed a different type of poll. The scary poll. Obama had 80% against McCain 14%. Obama holds a hidden agenda that most liberals won't even see as they are blinded by party loyalty instead of personal principles. Well, the rest of us 80% will not vote for the guy.

Umm what year is this...1932??? It is so sad that we're in the year of 2008 and most individuals that have posted their thoughts on this blog are one sided. I would be wrong to say ALL of you who have posted about Kool-Aid drinkers, uneducated masses and the list of negativity goes on and on are WHITE Americans. But that would be wrong. Everyone's still throwing out the race cards. Those that are supporting Obama or McCain is because they believe in what they're saying they can do. I personally feel that a change is needed in Washington. The ones' backing McCain are apparently rich and well off and just die hard, born and bred Republicans. And the ones behind Obama feel that he can deliver the change that most of the needs. What will it take for people to stop being so stereotypical and immature. I pray for all of your souls. I hope your children or grandchildren will have a better code of ethics and morals.

Anonymous Oct 11,2008 @ 8:16 PM; Your post reflects ONE of my major points. The uneducated masses who have no idea what the issues are or who the key players are, and obviously cannot spell are the 'sheep' that are going to the polls to vote in the party that will require nothing of them, keep them ignorant, and deliver very little of their empty promises. Short uneducated bumper sticker comments that reflect nothing except a demonstration of ignorance.

Hey, Obama Snake Oil co.: Somehow, I think that if video/audio of Obama burning an American flag was out there, his kool-aid drinkers would still vote for him. The media has done everything they can to elect this man, and they've done everything possible to make everyone hate Bush, McCain, Palin, and conservatives in general. It seems to me that the mainstream media has the biggest influence over those hopeless dupes who, whether consciously or unconsciously, think to themselves, ''The media would'nt say it if it were'nt true !'' Such people are easily manipulated by feelings, and seldom look past feelings to delve into facts. The scary thing is that even these people that can't think for themselves are given the right to vote, and Obama will have both the media and them to thank if he wins. Just think : If only the intelligent people were allowed to vote, no Democrat would EVER get elected ! Hang tough, buddy!

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil co Location: Washington on Oct 11, 2008 at 05:55 PM
Someone should vote for Obama. What part of uninformed do you not understand? We thought Nixon was corrupt, but you will vote for Obama? Get informed, stop drinking the koolaide, well, have two more glasses, you will feel better. VBush, I think Jim Jones would be proud. Obama suckered in so many with so little information and they fell for it...isn't terd polish great? We don't get it? What part of socialist, communist, terroist do you not get? If you like your job or want your 401K back you better think again. Yall have a nice night, play fair and vote republican. Obama, he just can't tell the truth, he doesn't want anyone to know.....

VBush, Snake Oil, maybe we feel the same, You don't get it no matter what happens. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

Obama Snake Oil Co.; LOL!! They will never get it. They remind me of the 'Reverend Jim Jones in Jonestown back in 1978. No matter what happens, they will drink the kool-aide.

Posted by: Little Woman on Oct 11, 2008 at 08:17 AM
To Obama Snake Oil Co, Last words, WE ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA what part of that don't you understand?

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Oct 11, 2008 at 07:46 AM
The real reason I have not focused on this because of the facts behind it and not the hyped version of the story. Sorry, it just doesn't compare to obamas association with Ayers. You mention skeletons in the closet with Obama? You don't even know what there is on Obama as you don't research the facts. VBush, Red State have all exposed many "facts" on your canidate but you would still vote for him. To most of us it sounds like shady people will vote for a shady president. Just because the media puts terd polish on it doesn't make him clean. Yet this is big story, the big ethics violation? You caught the tater, they call her tater salad.

Posted by: Gary Location: Williamston on Oct 10, 2008 at 11:33 PM
So she fired or tried to fire someone while in office..I'd say that pales compared to Barry Sortoro's history of anti-American,anti-white fanatical Muslim background. He is the worst poison this country has ever seen and everyone seems to have had a drink! So long America it was nice knowing you..hello socialism! P.S. seems someone copied my name and location I'm flattered! lol

Palin abused her power as governor of Alaska according to the legislative report just release. What do you think she'll do if she becomes VP...more of the same? YOU BETCHA!

Posted by: lavon Location: kinston on Oct 10, 2008 at 08:49 PM
well well just in. It has been proven that Palin fired a Safety commisioner because he wouldnt fire a state trooper over a divorce. So Obama Snake oil why haven't you been mentioning this all this time? You've been talking about everything else, why dont you bring this up. Yet another black eye for the republican party!! Mccain's grave just got a little deeper for his campaign. Talk about lack of ethics and morals. I told you folks that this woman has a lot of skeletons in her closet.

Posted by: TO JESSIE Location: Greenville on Oct 10, 2008 at 08:46 PM
It sounds like you may be in denial! P.S. I'm sure you and your honest living friends that don't have time to take a minute long poll on the internet have never checked their email at work. Please, that was a little bit much. By the way, you are not the only hard working person earning an honest living.

Isn't amazing how some of you liberals will ignore his associations with terrorists, American hating preachers/priests and crime. This is about 2 fries short of a happy meal. You need to pay attention to the facts and not the party. The solution to the problem is not to vote in a socialist liberal, no, you need someone that surrounds themselves with good people that are problem solvers. Like Guilani who would go after wall street, Romney, who would straigten up the economy and Petreus, who would keep the military strong to finish and then get out. Getting a cowardly liberal with Ayers and Wright, think about it, who would Obama pick. Obviously, he has a difficult time picking friends, what about cabinet. Would this be a bunch of corrupt politicians? Yes. Obama is part of the economy brake down. Sorry, this is a fact. Yet you would vote him in anyway. You just can't trust people and politicians that lie.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 10, 2008 at 04:29 PM
Linda, yes, yes yes. And McCain is sliding away by the minute with his angry anti Obama rallys. They are the most low class people I've ever seen.

Posted by: Jessie Location: Greenville on Oct 10, 2008 at 04:24 PM
Those polls are so inaccurate. The majority of people have not taken those stupid polls because we're too busy working and earning an honest living. I don't know anybody personally that is voting for Obama...thank God!!! McCain Palin 2008:-)

Posted by: Linda Location: Greenville on Oct 10, 2008 at 04:01 PM
I am for Obama/Biden all the way. He is the better choice believe me, look at McCain, my God he won't make one term, and then look what we have a soccer mom to run the country, pleeeeze - get real people Obama-Obama-Obama-Obama

In case anyone wants to know who is ahead in the pre-voting polls you can go check it out on realclearpolitics.com. The awesome thing is with the toss up states voting for who is currently in the lead for their state Obama/Biden have 353 electoral votes and McCain/Palin have 185. I love it! Go Obama/Biden!!

So Bucky, who gets your vote McCain or Palin?

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Greenville on Oct 10, 2008 at 02:36 PM
To V08-You say that it's a black/white issue but Obama is half black and half white, big deal. We don't want to vote for him because he's the most inexperienced person running. Obama has done nothing for his country. McCain has served his counry his whole life. Obama is clueless about running a country. I can't believe the American people could be so gullible!!! You've got to be a fool to vote for him. Go McCain and Palin!!!!

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Oct 10, 2008 at 02:35 PM
Jim, I follow your "logic" to a tee. You see some liberals will not recognize the "truth" of what has happened or how the country really works. Obama makes the economy worse than under Jimmy Carter. Yet people like lil woman would not vote for McCain for dog catcher? She must have a secure state job as the rest of us have to work in a very competitive workforce. Our choice is, lets see, we loose our jobs, have a socialist take our money for redistribution, screw up the economy worse than it is, help create a terrorist stronghold or vote for two others that will go after the greed (expose the perpetraitors), decrease taxes, finish and get out of the middle east with dignity, stabilize the workforce and deal with a dangerous world. Hmmmm, what country are you from? Little woman, if you turntable continues to do that, a slight tap to the base will cause the needle to jump back to the rest of the album.

Posted by: Bucky Location: Greenville on Oct 10, 2008 at 02:24 PM
No Obama! Go McCain and Palin! You have my family's vote all the way!

Posted by: V08 Location: somewhere on Oct 10, 2008 at 02:17 PM
Jim, evidently you missed the last eight years because GWBush did the exact same thing when he got in office, sent more jobs overseas, have you heard the latest numbers on unemployment? Obviously not. It's a shame that most of you are not looking past the black/white aspect of this election. It should only be about what will be best for the US. When the Republicans took office 8 years ago, there was a surplus and now the US is borrowing money from China. Please do not think that McCain will be any different from the current administration.

Posted by: Lavon Location: Kinston on Oct 10, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Response to Randy: Ok I just read your post, you said you might have to lay off employees and move your business overseas. Ok my question to you is: Randy have you been asleep for the past eight years, have you even turned your television on in the last couple of weeks? Well let me catch you up since you don't seem up to date on the latest happenings. 10's of thousands of americans have lost their jobs since bush has been in office. Thousands of companies and businesses have close the doors ond laid off employees since bush has been in the white house and finally Randy and you read this very closely. THE STOCK MARKET IS ABOUT TO CRASH!!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS?? Well there you go Randy, welcome to 2008!! And you want to talk about what Obama is going to do to america. Unbelievable!! Unbelievable!!

Posted by: Jim Location: Washington on Oct 10, 2008 at 01:20 PM
Everyone talks about losing jobs to companys going overseas, let Obama get into office and give the company that are currently here a tax hike, then see how many jobs will be lost to companys moving overseas. Obama's plan is the very worst thing that can be done to our economy and job force. Companys will be packing up and leaving the country at a record pace. McCain would like to give the company's a tax break, which will encourage the companys to stay here in the United States, expand and hire more AMERICAN workers. More people with more jobs equals a better economy. WHAT are all of you Obama supports thinking????? It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Go ahead, vote him into office, then come back and ask why you no longer have a job. Just as Randy stated: IT'S COMMON SENSE PEOPLE!!!!!!

Posted by: Little Woman on Oct 10, 2008 at 12:51 PM
TO Paul, I would not vote for McCain for City Dog Warden let alone President of the United States.......Obama\Biden 08

Posted by: Paul Location: New Bern on Oct 10, 2008 at 12:13 PM
If everyone is truly happy with the way things are now in America, I beg of you, please vote for McCain/Palin. Their party lead us down this path with his support. To continue this downward spiral, vote for the party that "brung us to this dance".

Posted by: Concerned Location: Greenville, NC on Oct 10, 2008 at 11:44 AM
It is too late for God Bless America. We have used him and abused his power. His wrath is upon us. God is no joke. We are all one step from being homeless. Russia and Saudi Arabia will own this country.

Posted by: Randy Location: Greenville on Oct 10, 2008 at 11:39 AM
As I have stated before. To the Obama supporters. I, as a business owner who makes over $250,000. If Obama gets elected and I get a tax hike, this will cause not just myself but plenty of others to down-size the employee base to make up the difference in the tax hike. If you support losing your jobs to Obama's plan then go for it, elect him, but I promise it will cause the lose of many jobs, just so the business can stay open. I would hate to be forced to lay off my employees, but thay is the way it is going to be. I currently employee 75 people, but if there is a tax hike I will seriously think about moving my business overseas to avoid the tax hike. Then 75 people will lose their jobs. McCain is offering a tax cut to my business, that will allow me to expand and hire more employees instead of releasing/laying off employees. I am a Democrat but will not stand for any of Obama's nonsense solutions which will totally ruin an already hurting economy. It's common sense folks!!!!

Posted by: All4John&Sarah Location: NC on Oct 10, 2008 at 11:02 AM

For the americans that are planning to vote for Obama because you think we need "change" yes I agree we do need change the economy is in a crisis as we all know it is affecting everyone, although we need positive change. Change that is not going to just happen over night, we did not get in this shape over night. We need positive change in our country change that obeys gods laws. After all this is gods country and we have to do what is right in gods eyes. Everything that Obama stands for is against the rules of god. If Obama is elected for president all of us can expect the end of time to be nearing soon. If you want proof you can find it in the book of "Revelations" in the bible. Do not vote because of skin color this would be an iresponsible decision. Really sit down and ask yourself what is right and vote "McCain" the right decision.

To Anonymous: If you are not against something you are for it! How can you compare abortion to capital punishment???? That is ludicrous. Your chance to choose was before conception. You talk about your bodies rights, what about the baby's rights? Capital punishment is punishment to hard criminals. Unborn babies are innocent. Who cares if you don't believe life starts at conception. It is what it is. There is no reason to murder an unborn child. And your boy Obama supports late term abortion. He voted no against the bill that banned it, he also voted no against minors needing parental permission to seek an abortion. Before you argue about rape/incest view my previous posts b/c I have been there, done that and got the t-shirt. If you are not anti abortion, that makes you pro abortion. Having an abortion doesn't make you un pregnant, it makes you the mother of a dead baby. You don't have to be a Christian to see that murder is wrong. Go Mccain.

Please know that you have the eternal gratitude [something Rob's dad apparently never taught him] of all REAL americans everywhere. TO ROB!! you do owe the troops , the troops of the past, without them back in 1940-45 , we would be flying a GERMAN FLAG over our head and tens of millions would not be alive today!! I was in desert storm in 1990-1991 and my grandson DIED 1 1/2 yrs ago in IRAQ so a DOG like you can have free speech, it is ashame that you preach TRASH AND LIES !! This is a response for Jack Hoff: I don't mind ''Rob'' having his opinions. Disagreement is the heart of good conversation. If we all thought alike, what would we have to discuss? It just seems to me that Rob was the one struck by what you described as ''You can have an opinion as long as it's mine.'' I politely but firmly disagreed with him, and he then decided to take his ball and go home. If he wishes to stop posting, fine. Plenty more folks that think as he does to take his place....and, unlike Rob,quite a few of them are at least able to disagree and still take it like an adult. I once again will quote Sean Hannity :''To make a conservative mad, lie to him. To make a liberal mad, tell him the truth.'' Respectfully, A

We need to clear up something about this whole abortion idea. There is no one in the world that is pro-abortion. I do not think it is that abortion is the right thing to do and I would never choose to have one. However, NO ONE in Washington or anywhere else has the right to tell any woman what she can and can't do with her own body. If you want to argue that the reason abortion is wrong is because we must protect all humans, with that statement you cannot defend capital punishment. Also, not everyone believes that human life begins at conception and you cannot force that idea on anyone. If you use religion as a reason for abortion being bad, well, not everyone is Christian so you cannot argue that either. The adoption process has serious issues and needs to be improved immediately. I believe if there was a better adoption process then there would be less abortions. The truth is this issue is very complicated and nothing is going to be done about it no matter who becomes president.

Obama 08 4 Prez; I haven't seen any reduction in the situations you just addressed because abortions are legal and being conducted wholesale. So if you think that abortion being legal is an answer to all the social issues you just named, you obviously haven't been paying attention. With that said, why would you support infanticide or support anyone who has voted for it? Is killing babies the answer to social problems? I think not. Since you have actually seen it now, and are not completely repulsed and against it, I have to question how you can support anything even close to this.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 9, 2008 at 02:39 PM
To Nobama 08-You really do need a refresher English course. Why is it you have to bring race into this conversation, it's totally irrelevant! I know plenty of white women who do the same. The point is it is not about the government telling what to do with your body, it's about PROTECTION FOR ALL HUMAN BEINGS!!! Is that too hard for you to understand? You act like abortion is the ONLY option and totally ignore ADOPTION. I have a friend that was adopted. She met her biological mother as a young woman and has geat respect for her. She has no resentment that she was given up for adoption, she respects her mother for at least letting her live her life. My friend is now in medical school and a true asset to society. I'm sorry but I could care less about women who would try to abort their own babies. These women who have had abortions in the past and now have their "right children" disgusts me. Could you look at your children now and decide which one to murder and which one to live?

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Oct 9, 2008 at 01:56 PM
OH yes I saw a partial birth abortion on the net, and it was the most horrific thing I've seen BUT......It wasn't me killing my baby. Women will kept getting abortion if they are legal or not. At Least if they are legal the woman will get proper care and won't die of infections from things like wire coat hangers. This is the part I don't understand about you republicans. Let's pretend a poor 15 year old black female is pregnant and she has the baby...all I would read on this post from the repubs is, black people are lazy, having babies, waiting for their welfare checks and food stamps, get a job, stop having some many babies, I'm tired of taking care of you with my tax money. I mean what do you want? You can't have it both ways. Some people can't afford a child, and that's just the facts. Do you have to pay for these peoples sin? How is what's going on in someone else's body your business? ....If a girl has a baby, how about the male be castrated? Let's control his body too!

To "A": I happen to know the person who went under the name of "Rob" on this and this person is a self-described anarchist. I know his views upset a lot of conservatives or those on religious right, but this person is speaking their mind. What has always ticked "Rob" off is the philosophy of "You can have an opinion,as long as it's my opinion", which is so prevailent on this web site. So, this person loves to simply get conservatives so P.O.ed that they start spouting off wild rants about patriotism and politics. "Rob" has simply sat at the computer and laughed, saying "Fools. All fools." I know for a fact that this person will not comment on any page on this site again, due to fact that "Rob" is tired of, in his own words, "...dealing with idiots."

Posted by: Amy Location: Greenville on Oct 9, 2008 at 01:17 PM
Melissa and Kathy, I'm glad that you are able to share your experience with others so they can recognize that people that choose to have an abortion are normal everyday people. I see below that people are trying to make it out to look like that people who choose abortion are low lifes and they continue to use abortion as a form of birth control. There are many women in this country that have had one abortion and do not continue to do so after that. I'm glad that two of you had the opportunity to make the best choice for your life instead of our government telling what to do with your body based on their religious beliefs.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 9, 2008 at 12:58 PM
Well...I guess that's because we didn't mess around and end up pregnant. Maybe you should refrain from sexual activity until you're woman enough to be responsible for your own actions. Don't be thanking God for the right to kill your own baby because He had nothing to do with that decision. I really do not know how you all sleep at night. I guess that's the difference in you and me. Have you ever researched how abortions are performed? We treat criminals and animals more humane than innocent babies.

Posted by: Kathy Location: Washington on Oct 9, 2008 at 12:24 PM
Melissa - I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's your choice. Thank God we live in a country where we have that right (at least for right now.) I made that same CHOICE 21 years ago. I know it was absolutely the right thing to do. I once published an article on abortion being totally against it. It was very assaultive on the women who chose that root. How stupid I was. Given the same circumstances today, I would still choose abortion. I had a wonderful baby 5 years later when I thought it was the right time. I've never regretted it. You conservative folks know nothing of which you speak concerning abortion until you've walked a mile in our shoes.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 9, 2008 at 12:09 PM
Yeah....you keep telling yourself that you made the right choice. The only person you are convincing is yourself. Did you ever think of giving the baby up for adoption? No, because you were being selfish. I am a woman and I am Pro-Life because I believe in the rights and safety of all! I don't just pick and choose who has the right to life. Abortion is murder!!! It's funny how a woman can be irresponsible and immoral and think "oops...i got pregnant, oh well i will just have an abortion." That baby has just as much rights as you and I. They have a right to life! Next time you end up in this situation please look into adoption!

Posted by: Melissa on Oct 9, 2008 at 11:49 AM
If you can't trust a woman with a choice, how can you trust her with a baby. I made a choice almost 20 years ago as a teen to have an abortion. It was the hardest, most depressing and painful decision of my life, up until that point. My baby would have grown up fatherless with an uneducated, immature, angry mother that would probably still be on welfare had I not made that choice or in a foster facility or home. I made the right choice for myself and ultimately for that baby. No amount of Christianity or lack there of could ever convince me otherwise. I continue to be thankful for my right to choose.

I consider myself a Christian and a conservative. I like the idea of taking care of myself and my family with as little input or interference from government as possible, except on matters of National Security. That being said, I truly was struggling with voting for McCain. I probably would've still voted AGAINST the Obama propaganda/fear machine, but was not EXCITED. Life, and the protection of it, is #1 on my "checklist" for giving my support and NOW I can confidently vote McCain/Palin. McCain proved with his choice of Palin that he was brave (once again) and put a "pro-life" lady on his ticket. My heart lit up when I heard her stance! It's not hard people, abortion is MURDER! Supporting the right to abortion is supporting the right to murder and is just as bad as committing murder yourself. I couldn't support a murderer! McCain/Palin.

It is now 2008, and though many ethnic groups may vote based on the color of one's skin, most and I say MOST people who actually care about this country don't care what color the president is. Find me a trustworthy, honest, unchanging, less government believing, life supporting, military backing, red, white, and blue loving African American and I will vote for them- until then keep the dishonest, constantly changing, tied to terrorist, undeciding, abortion backing out of the White House. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE check your facts about Obama and think about whether you want someone who lacks moral judgement, can't seem to vote for or against anything, and has ties to people that HATE America telling you what to do. KEEP Obama out of the White House- Put your tax dollars to better use. VOTE: McCain/Palin 2008.

Be very cautious of any politician who uses "wedge issues" to promote their agenda. This is exactly what Palin and McCain are doing today and the Republican base is falling in lock step behind them. Lokk how fast they jumped on the Palin bandwagon - unquestioning. Militarism, ultra-nationalism, scapegoats, half-truths and false statements intended to inflame a poorly informed citizenry during times of ecomomic distress. We have seen this before in Nazi Germany in the run up to WWII. And I'll bet that Karl "Goebbels" Rove has his pudgey little fingers in this.

Liberals on this board seem to have been completely blind sided by the dem party. Jackson, they actually believe the rhetoric on the web sites instead of the true facts. Obama has cited many lies in the last debate yet this means nothing to the liberals. Lies are OK as long as its not their Obama who is accused. McCain is the only honest canidate along with Palin we have. I just don't trust my parties canidate Obama, he has too much history of association with corruption. That does mater. It published everywhere on TV, Fox news, Cnn and the internet. Are you really going to vote for more corruption? Fanny Mae and Freddy isn't enough for you, 800 million isn't enough for you? Is a trillion dollars enough? Vote republican this year and vote out the incumbants as well. Status quo is what we have now, changes mean new leaders. Obama, you just can't trust. If he does win, I'd say his most vocal opponents will be Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham. I predict that Obama will do all he can to find a way to get those folks off the air. I do fear for our country if he gets elected...but we'll tough it out like we did with 8 years of Clinton. Okay, here is what Obama's tax cut will do. If he raises taxes on people who make over 250,000 a year, many people will lose their job. For example, I along with many of my friends work at Hatteras Yachts. The people who buy Yachts are the same ones who make over $250,000 a year (most over $5 million). If Obama raises their taxes, they stop buying Yachts (along with expensive cars, fork lifts, nice homes, high end electronics, high end appliances, etc) and I along with many others lose my job, so what good does a tax cut do if I can't even work. As much as I hate to say, rich people buying stuff is what gives us average folks our jobs. It is simple trickle down economics. For this reason along with the fact that I think McCain will do a much better job handling Iran, Russia, Iraq, etc... is why I am voting for McCain.

Posted by: A on Oct 9, 2008 at 07:33 AM

Lavon, You obviously do not understand the democratic system. The congress control spending and policy which is and has been controlled by a democrat dominated congress. Bush could not do anything without the congress approving it!!!! Why I do think Bush is not the best president this country has ever had...He didn't act alone. The party that supports your beloved Barrack Hussein Obama were the ones that enacted all of the policy and the laws that contributed to the mess the economy. And furthermore, if the problem is strictly a Republican problem why did banks around the world cut interest rates to prevent meltdowns of economies all over the world.

Also, I would like to add that Palin should continue being Governor of Alaska because I'm not impressed with her being Vice President of the U.S. She's not no where near the "CALIBER" of Hillary Clinton!!! Now, that sounds that COMMUNISM, when you believe in a one party system. I GUARANTEE you, OBAMAS proposed policies will not change this country's direction for the better. If he doesn't sing another tune if elected, he will be dogged unmercifully. You need to research and read, a front page article on Mr. Raines's in the New York Times in 1999. Mr. RAINES, former CEO of Fannie/Mae and now an OBAMA economic ADVISOR,bragged when said he would "push" sub prime morgtages to the poor. He lied to people and walked away with 90 million dollars. I haven't seen him in front of CONGRESS testifying yet. Check out the donations the Democrats got from Fannie/Mae and Freddy/Mac. The truth hurts. McCain/Palin is a ticket worthy of believing in - that good change is possible. Obama has said that we must be willing to sacrifice. Who is he talking about? You. How will you sacrifice? By paying more taxes so he can give them to those who don't have as much as you do. I have no problem with helping those who are disabled and old. But I don't think a person who works hard and makes money or a person who inherited money from a family that worked hard should have to sacrifice it for someone who isn't willing to better themselves. This is a socialist view of life, people. Wake up!

His views on taxes/healthcare/education will not work. He has no experience and his connection to certain individuals is terrifying. I honestly do not feel he has the best interest of the people of this country, black or white at heart. It is sickening people and the media are more interested in making history by electing a black president than voting for what is right for the country. Freedom to vote, freedom to pursue our dreams, freedom of speech, freedom to our own opinions..even when those opinions are, as yours are, blatantly elitist and ungrateful. Thousands upon thousands of American members of ''our precious military'' DIED to give you the things you enjoy, and yet you apparently hold their sacrifices in utter contempt. That attitude itself is BENEATH contempt. So go ahead and renounce your citizenship. It does'nt sound like you deserved it to begin with.

Everyone who "pulls the lever" for Obama will be enabling infants to be partially born with their head passing thru the birth canal which then will be penetrated at the base of the skull by forceps or a scapel and then the skull's contents would be suctioned out. OBAMA WOULD NOT VOTE TO BAN THIS CRUEL AND MURDEROUS ACT TO BABIES! If anybody can vote for this sick individual, lay down at night, look at yourself in the mirror in the morning and see no wrong in it, then you have sunk below basic humanity! If that sounds tough, too bad. There are animals treated better than that! Women, think about the first time you felt your baby move or kick. I was 4 months pregnant which is 16 weeks gestation. They allow this type of abortion to take place much later than that and it varies by state, some as late as the last trimester that would be the last 3 months of the pregnancy. Premature infants can survive as young as 24 weeks or 6 months gestation. Think about people! Life is a Gift!

I,for one,am a conservative white male. In contrast to what some people say, I could'nt care less about the fact that Obama is black. I have no problem with our President being black. In spite of what these brainless atheists would have you think, we're all created by the same God, with no race superior to another. I DO have a problem with liberalism. This sort of thinking is what gave us affirmative action, and a justice system that cares more for criminals than for the victims of the criminals. It gave us the idea that those who work for a living should pay to support those who refuse to work[a.k.a.,welfare]. It gave us a country that would rather disarm law-abiding citizens rather than actual criminals, and also allows hordes of illegal aliens to ignore our immigration laws while many of those same aliens suck our social programs dry. Liberal thinking also requires us to learn a foreign language to make the aliens feel more at home.Elect Obama and we'll get more of the same.

I wish these politicians would stop trying to use religion to get elected. Yes, they should feel free to demonstrate their Christian values, but let's be consistent. Let's not be hypocritical. If we are going to follow God's Word on a few things, why not follow it on all things. However, then there is a problem. There is no universal interpretation of the Scriptures, so things become complicated. All I want is for politicians to be real, considerate, compassionate and loyal. It is hard to find politicians with all of these qualities because it is hard to find people with all of these qualities. However, I look for the candidate who appears closest to the aforementioned description. The childishness must end.

i hope witn keeps these comments on archive and a book is written someday. It is so overwhelming to see how people can support palin mccain. it is sickening. we cannot pull out of the mess we are in with an insecure unhealthy president and a power hungry woman that should be home taking care of her children. All those who think she is going to do something for your special needs children...what is she doing for hers???wake up america....vote with the mammas for obama/biden 08!!!

Linda, that is so weird. I almost wrote that exact thing yesterday. Do you read minds? Funny. Hope she's got her oneway ticket to Alaska for Nov. 5.

The stock market is reacting negatively, to the strong possibility of a Democratic President, House and Senate. The downward spiral will continue until some greed overtakes fear. That isn't going to happen very soon. This is one big PONZI Scheme.

Obama supporters! Check out who he was supporting for Kenya's prez election. "Odinga" was in correspondence with Obama from his senate office as late as the NH primary. He advised Odinga on how to manage his campaign and if he lost then he should cry voter fraud. Enrage the tribes. Odinga and Obama are from the same tribe and they know each other thru their fathers. Well he lost. Riots broke out among the tribes and ultimately 800 Christian Churches were burned and Obama supported this person. Check it out, breaking news today but there's a clue, you will not see this on CBS,MSNBC or ABC. Obamanation Chapter 4 has some info but there is email evidence proving this.

A Democrat for McCain/Palin. Obama's promises unrealistic. Would never be accepted by Congress.
