Voter registration, locally, statewide and nationally is breaking records this election year.

In North Carolina there are around 600,000 more registered voters over last year. That contributes to a record six million overall voters.

The numbers are also up in Pitt County. There are now about 102,000 registered voters. That figure is about 10,000 more than the 2004 presidential election

To register to vote you just need to have your drivers license number or last four digits of your social security number with you. You can also download the form online and mail it in. The deadline to register is October 10th. After that you can register during the one-stop voting.

To @@@; You make me want to support 'a woman's right to choose' and make it retroactive.

I have no problem with you as a person, if you choose to take what I believe personal I am sorry. I do disagree with your choice of McCain\Palin to do your talking for you, but that is your choice not mine, "GOOD LUCK" by

I am a democrat voting for a republican this year, does this mean you loath me too? My party has become the party of being shot at in Iraq, Rev Wright supporters, Pelosi and Reid, blame Bush and finally, Obama, the would be king. The took a rising star and put him at the top to lose this election since he has no experience. The whining I hear on this board are....liberals that repeat the same thing over and over again. We need to clean up Washington with a couple of Mavericks instead of a couple of follow the party liberals.

I agree with you 1000% mamma for obama, my college graduate will be voting Obama\Biden 08, I am so proud of him for graduating from college and for voting for right party. He is a professor in CT so I know he will be out campaigning for Obama. One thing great about it, he is very reverenced among the students on campus.

You republicans "JUST DON'T GET IT". WE loath you for a lot of reasons but most all because of the habitual lying and whining you do 24\7 You all will get over losing this election then "YOU MAY GET IT AT LAST"

To mamma for obama...I see you used the word "help" from VBush. Nobody paid for my education ,and nobody "helped" pay for my daughters. There is more money available for loans and scholarships than ever. Each individual is responsible for ones action. I recommend we cut off the funding to the UNITED NATIONS and other corrupt orgaizations for starters.

Posted by: mamma for obama on Oct 2, 2008 at 07:33 AM
to VBUSH ...if you get out and help besides run your mouth, you will see that many of our young voters are tired of seeing our country go down the tube in their lifetime...including my college students.

More liberal policies clearly designed to make it easier to garner the votes of the ignorant.

I guess ACORN is alive and well in NC. I as mentioned last week, the movement has been exposed. This organiztion is more corrupt than our legislatures.

Posted by: Steve Location: Kinston on Oct 2, 2008 at 12:12 AM
Am I to believe that this is not going to turn into a corruption fiasco? All you need is your driver's license number and the last 4 digits of your ssn? Or you can just MAIL it in? Then if you can't sneak it in, then just one stop vote at your local voting place. God preserve us from these lying, thieving politicians who will do anything to get their agenda in place. The opportunity for fraud and dishonesty using this system is gigantic.

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Oct 1, 2008 at 10:53 PM
Joe; EXACTLY!!!....and how many of these voters are not legally eligible to vote? Illegals have driver licenses, and who knows how many Social Security numbers. Gee, I wonder which candidate is going to benefit from all these 'new' voters?

Posted by: Kitty on Oct 1, 2008 at 09:31 PM
There is a record number of college students registering as democrats across America. Thousands of them have not been included on phone polls because they only have cell phones. Life is looking great now days, Obama\Biden 08

Posted by: joe on Oct 1, 2008 at 09:00 PM
The problem with massive voter registration is that uninformed voters are dragged to the polls. This is done far more by the democrats.Scary isn't it. Winston Churchill once said the best argument against democracy is a five minute talk with the average voter.

Posted by: mamma for obama on Oct 1, 2008 at 08:40 PM
it has been a pleasure to register so many college students. all affiliations!! many unaffiliated, many democrats and some republicans.
