McCain Criticizes Obama's Campaign Performance Save Email Print

A | A | A

John McCain is criticizing his opponent's performance in Friday night's debate.

McCain says Barack Obama didn't have "such a good night," claiming the Democrat tried to use the looming market meltdown for
political gain. He told the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance in Ohio via satellite that Obama sees the problem as something "to be
exploited first and solved later."

Obama's camp is also seizing on the debate as campaign fodder and has already made up a new ad critical of McCain for never once
using the term "middle class."

Obama's campaign manager also says McCain's efforts to paint
Obama as inexperienced on foreign affairs was "sophomoric."

The next debate is between the two vice presidential candidates,
Joe Biden and Sarah Palin, Thursday in St. Louis.

Devil Dog...besides who you are voting for I have always had a respect for you. Don't let one of my text ever let you think differently. I can tell you aren't a young man, but I can also tell you are set in your ways. Telling me you have been through those hard times come to no surprise to me. Nor does the fact that you served in the military. Men like you are hard to find. You are a dying breed of men who still honor marriage...to me that alone deserves a metal. I try not to talk about my husband here because it makes me vulnerable. He is white, he is in the military and has served for 20 years in May, 'my God' he even is a republican. I pray in 20 more years when we are still married he has the spunk you have to still give me a run for my money. Some of the best arguments I've had have been with you without actually being aggressive. We made not always end up on a friendly note, but through this blog I do consider you a friend! Now back to myself...O84P

Just watch this if you believe Democrats had no involvement in this crisis. Everyone had a hand in it but these Republicans tried to head it off. Some Republicans didn't, but these did. Just watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs

I feel sorry for Palin thursday. Mccain won't be able to hold her hand in the debate, she's all alone. Aww poor baby..Lol!!

To Obama for prez 08..Hard toilet paper. I remember using pages from Sears&Roebuck catalogues. No TV until age 13, no car until age 21, no fast food, no money, no credit cards, haircuts 35 cents, and 5 different families on the same phone line. In addition butt wipins aplenty. However, I enjoyed my childhood and have been very successful. In fact I will be married 40 years Sunday. AMERICA is great.

John which one of these punks are You hiding under a different name? You better hide under a different name! Coward, that's the only way you dare call me out, it's when you hide under a different name. LOL Look how I have the men scared. I should be your president. LOLOLOL

I see you did not post my comment editor. I called no one out, if that was the reason. I just simply asked a logical question regarding another's claim. If they're going to claim it, I think I have the right to question it. We learn from our mistakes, correct?

Editor: I reviewed and posted.

John....(edited)...WHAT A TERRIBLE THING TO SAY. LOL The truth is..I've been called worst by better. I've wiped my butt with harder toilet paper than that insult. But your last sentence was soooo true, and I quote ,"So hold your nose folks because the election will here and gone soon, then maybe some common sense will return."

Edited....let's be nice....and John's comment will be retroactively edited as well.

For all you BUSH haters..He screwed up when he retained CLINTONS CIA Director, George( Bumm Scoop) Tenant, Norm Mineta, Secretary of Transportation. Alan Greenspan was the idiot who convinced CLINTON to repeal the GLASS-SEGAL Act of 1933. Oh yea..Jimmy Carter was the one who signed into law the Community Re-investment Act of 1977. CLINTON pushed it real hard, in the 90's ,because he was getting pressure from FANNIE/MAE,FREDDIE/MAC and the congressional black caucus. That's the facts folks.

Hey Brad and John, the same people posting the same belief just like they were trained. Sheep always follow each other when walking and I am sure the smell doesn't get too good from there. They call us morons and idiots yet cannot produce one fact on anything. Nothing. They say Bush lied, OK, what was it or when? Then they come back with it is a well known fact? After you hear something long enough it doesn't mean its true. Look at the facts in the video, then tell me who lied http://www.talk2rusty.com/rustytv.html

TO Frances, I would not VOTE for McBush if he was the last man on earth. You republicans need to wake up and smell the coffee for once in YOUR life. Don't forget YOU are the ones that are trying to convince US. We are not trying to convince anyone, WE like seeing YOU republicans hang your self a little at a time. On election day we Democrats will move in for the kill. YES McBush travels to the beat of his own drum and so does every American in this country. You know you republican morons had Bush on a pedestal four years ago and now you have McBush on a pedestal, you never learned a thing did you? Every one of you deserve just what you get, good or bad.

Little Woman, So you're telling us that you were alive during the depression("I was there and did that")? At least that's my understanding of what you've written. And Lavon, once again your comments show that you do not know how our government ACTUALLY works. Don't get upset with me, you made the comments.

Posted by: Joe Willie Location: NC on Sep 30, 2008 at 12:05 PM
Everyone should look long and hard at what these two men are saying. It is my opnion they would both be better served to attack the issues faceing our country rather than each other, and quit talking about change, but saying nothing. Abe Lincon once said it is better to remain silent and appear foolish than to speak and remove all doubt.

Posted by: Frances Location: Greenville on Sep 30, 2008 at 11:49 AM
No doubt Mr. Obama is very bright. What frightens me is that he has absolutely no training and no experience HE IS NOT READY TO PLAY WITH THE BIG BOYS>>>Iam not really sure what he believes and he has no real experience in serving his country...Doesn't anybody out there sense this...Mr. McCain was willing to give his life for our country. He has always travelled to the beat of his own drum and is not a Bush lacky...Democrats & Republicans should feel good about voting for a true American and hold their heads high and pray pride will return to being an American.

Brad; There are several on here......... You just have to take them like you do when you go to the pig pen; hold your nose. So hold your nose folks because the election will here and gone soon, then maybe some common sense will return.

Edited. Please...no calling out other posters.

I will find the debate enlightning?? You can't be serious.....You cannot be serious. What you don't get is that American people are sick and tired of all that has happened over the past 8 years. (which by the way has been under control by a republican administration in case you haven't noticed) Will you please come out of your state of denial and admit that this administration has completely screwed up this nation?? Will you finally admit that YOUR boy Mccain aligns himself with bush and will further destroy whats left of this economy? Fortnately that want happen though because Obama will win and you will be very dissapointed..

Posted by: Brad Location: Greenville on Sep 30, 2008 at 10:09 AM
Little Woman, I seem to remember you saying one of your parents was in the gulf or Iraq war? Now you remember the depression happening and you say you're 65? Something smells a little 'fishy'here.

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Sep 30, 2008 at 08:17 AM
I think Lavon, you will find the debate "enlightning". As I have posted, she is more like us than all the other canidates. Sorry, its a fact. The polls? Which one? Most are all over the place. Oh, this means the moveon.org poll. Well liberals, with what Nancy Pelosi did yesterday, you will find most Americans didn't think it funny. For you that like to make Blame of Bush, just give us any fact that points that way. I blame the GOP for most all the problems we have in this country. I blame Pelosi and Reid for not demonstrating "fair" leadership. Here is one fact, their approval ratings by the American is the lowest in history. So what does that say about liberals? They just don't get it.

To Anonymous, I don't know if I dislike more because I don't trust or because she is very unintelligent. You it scares the hell out of me to think she is even running for something in this country. She and McBush will never never have my blessings. I may have to except them as candidates but never anything more, I would never stand or salute McCain.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 30, 2008 at 06:29 AM
That's right Little Woman. WE CAN NOT trust McCain. And even the Rep. know we can't trust Palin, even if they won't admitt it.

Posted by: get serious Location: Enc on Sep 30, 2008 at 04:51 AM
Rob are you kidding me, Lil Georgie is responsible for 2/3 of our economies problems, and for you to say that most of the people unemployed are dems is not a fact, show me the numbers. I was employed with my company for 20yrs at a high level positions and was laid off with about 1000 other people, because of the mess we are in now, I deserve a stimulus check and an extension on benefits I have worked so hard for. By the way I am a Rep but will not vote for old man Mccain, Obama is the future of this country and there will be change.

Posted by: lavon Location: kinston on Sep 29, 2008 at 11:15 PM
Hey snake oil. You need to accept the fact that Mccain's campaign is dead on it's feet and you know it. I since severe desperation in you trying to tie Obama to anything you can but guess what my man, it's not sticking. This man had to go and hold Sarah Palin's hand in another interview with Catie Couric to try and redeem her in some way. How pathetic is that?? Like I said nothing is working for your useless republican party and i'll be laughing at the top of my lungs everyday all the way to election day.. Obama's lead is widening in the polls and I suspect it will widen quite a bit after the Palin/Biden debate thursday when she completely embarrases john mccain. I don't kow dude maybe Jonn Mccain can be a sponsor for AARP or something when this is all over with. BWAHAHAHHAAAWWWW!!!

that is yet to be seen

Posted by: Little Woman on Sep 29, 2008 at 08:47 PM
TO hope, You know I am 65 years old and I can tell you anything you would like to know about the depression. I can also tell you that at 65 years old I would not trust myself to run this country. I will not trust any one my age or older to do that. I never said a thing about McCain contributing to the housing melt down. I find that people come on here and grip at people about something they never even said. Do you people even read before you start griping? McCain is not a wealthy man his wife is wealthy, thanks to the fact he dumped his first wife to marry a rich woman. This country does not need a hero, WE need some one WE can trust and that is not McCain.

Posted by: hope Location: NC on Sep 29, 2008 at 05:06 PM
Little Woman, One more thing, you speak of old men having old ways. Have you ever spoken with and older person about the depression. Perhaps some of those old ways you speak of should have been in use in recent years. I value people of experience (usually older). For those that care to read & research, before they blindly go to the polls somewhat like lambs to slaughter, history is a tool that could be employed to help us NOT to repeat mistakes in the past. Good luck to you.

Posted by: hope Location: NC on Sep 29, 2008 at 05:01 PM
Little Woman, McCain has not contributed to the housing melt down. His homes were not acquired at the risk of our economy. He is a wealthy man & for some odd reason wants to put himself out there to be ridiculed in this way. Those without jobs & those living beyond their means that were allowed loans ARE part of the problem. Also, it is not always the best speaker that is capable of getting a job done. Again, McCain has been tried again, & again. He has held a steady course. Oh, & I believe he is a warrior, & a hero!

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Sep 29, 2008 at 01:38 PM
It would seem Sue the same argument could be made about Obama being young. Yes, McCain has been there and done that after all he has been serving his country for many years. He has experience. Obama was "pushed" out front a little fast by the party. He is not an electable guy. I have said this before, been there, done that, liberals will not make it. Moderates like Bill or Hillary are electable. History has taught that, not the poles. This especially true since Carter screwed up the economy and energy policy. I am a democrat but I won't vote for a liberal. I also vote for the best canidate accross party lines.

Posted by: Little Woman on Sep 29, 2008 at 01:37 PM
All I have to say is if my husband had eight or ten houses I sure the HELL would know about them. McBush is no warrior and never was. I have saw him talk about his life many time and how he spent his life as a trouble maker and ever brags about the fact. You have to be an imbecile not to see he is still a trouble maker. "OLD MEN HAS OLD WAYS" McBush lives in the past just like all old men do. "THAT MEANS MORE OF THE SAME" Only a lire and a coward looks away from his enemy, even animals look in each others eyes while in an engagement. some of you call McBush a warrior, that is a joke lol.

Posted by: Red State Location: Washington Co. on Sep 29, 2008 at 01:14 PM
McCain did not use the term "middle class" because he is not the one running a campaign based on class warfare. Poor people are not better Americans because they're poor and rich Americans are not worse because they're rich. They do not deserve to be punished because they worked and accumulated wealth unless they did it dishonestly. It did bother me that McCain didn't directly address Obama in the debate. I think it's because he doesn't consider him an equal on these matters. How can a guy with McCain's record and experience ever consider a guy with Obama's complete lack of record or extrememly liberal record and no experience an equal?

Posted by: Sue Location: Washington County on Sep 29, 2008 at 12:26 PM
I got tired of McCain's "I've been there" in almost every response. It's good he served his country, I don't take that from him at all, but it does not qualify him for the job at hand. We all should think about the health of McCain as well, if he were to be elected President and should he pass away, do we need to be in the position for Palin to be our President? She cannot even complete an interview without getting flustered. She seems to be impressive as a Governor, but she is light years away from Presidential material.

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 29, 2008 at 11:21 AM
When you can only view one thing at a time through a "single lens" a lot of things appear fuzzy and out of focus! There is no doubt that Obama won. This was McCain's "strong suit" and I've heard all his old war stories and "love them speeches" and "take care of them"! Where were the violins? His tired bear joke and we know you did not win Miss Congeniality, you have used that line in all stump speeches and you told us twice during the first debate. So the save the old stories for the next time you are giving a speech at the VA hall, or at the Thanksgiving table for your grandchildren. The rest of us are looking toward the future, not the past, and especially, not your past. McCain was so angry, that he had to share a stage with Obama. He appeared old, small, gray and bitter. McCain was very condescending and dismissive of Obama. Observations about from the debate: Harvard graduate vs a septuagenarian with an IQ just north of his shoe size.

To hope, Well McBush was looking away from Obama the entire debate and Obama may not have known who he was talking to. Look people call people by the wrong name all the time, get over it. It is better to forget a name than forget how many home you own. Speaking of his homes, I wonder is any of his homes has ever been foreclosed on like so many middle class peoples homes has been or will be.

Stay on the issues at hand, that is what matters. We know we can not please you so give a rest.

I was responding to Obama Snake Oil's comment that Obama is involved in the meltdown, like it is all his fault. McCain's campain linked Barack Obama to Freddie-Fannie. When reporters went to investigate those claims, they found McCain also has ties. www.newsweek.com/id/161218. All these guys get donations from banks and others as we well know. Bank of America gave most to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama but also donated $64,000 to John McCain. Because you know so much about everyone's donation amounts maybe you should give them to me. Only I wasn't talking about all of those guys. Just McCain and Obama and their connections. By the way, can you guys get through one post without name calling? It would be much more productive to just talk about the issues.

Posted by: Rob Location: Greenville on Sep 28, 2008 at 07:47 PM
How can anyone vote democrat? I believe the Dems have had power for the last two years and look was has happened to our economy. News Flash, the president didn't make all those mistakes. Who's idea is it to provide a stimilus package that extendeds unemployment benefits? Yea right. Give more to those who don't do anything for the economy. That's why most of those on government programs are democrat.

To Obama snake oil company..A radical left wing blog got my address about a year ago and started their attacks. Most of them were from SF Berkeley. Those nitwits must have been on "nose candy". Sadly, about 6 of them were professors in California and Hawaii and flood site on a regular basis. Finally, I blocked all their sites and they are gone.

To Snake Oil. What evil right wing wacko site do you collect your lies from? I would bet Fox News, since what they "report" are hardly facts. It amazes me that ANYONE who sees what's happening in our country now can vote for a Republican. What planet are you people from?

Barack Obama Agrees With John McCain Again and Again and Again John McCain and Senator Barack Obama particapated in the first presidential debate at the University of Mississippi on Friday evening. Once again, John McCain showed without a doubt that he is ready to be Commander in Chief from day one. Senator McCain's answers were clear, direct, and heartfelt. Barack Obama, by contrast, repeatedly evaded questions and directly contradicted previous statements that he has made. One of the most telling aspects of the debate was how often Senator Obama agreed with John McCain. On major point after major point, Barack Obama said that he agreed with John McCain. Senator Obama even agreed with John McCain's call for reforming and eliminating earmarks, despite the fact that Obama has requested $ 932 million in earmarks during the past three years.

Thanks Devil Dog, you got to be kidding has gone to the evil liberal site to collect their incorrect koolaid to make them feel better. Facts don't mater, just what the liberal web says and they believe it. Gullibal? Yes, they are liberals with Obama has done nothing wrong even though he has a very questionable past. Its that denial thing again. Even if you point out the facts about Franks, they still deny it and try to put it back on McCain. Again, I am a democrat, but I am not this stupid to believe these as facts. Are you kidding ain't kidding, they actually believe this crap.

Posted by: Sue on Sep 28, 2008 at 04:55 PM
CHRIS - You are so right. It pissed me off that Senator Obama referred to Senator McCain as "JOHN." That was the most disprespectful thing I have ever seen. Especially since McCain is also his elder. Obama is such a smooth talker. He scares the snot out of me........... GOOOOO MCCAIN AND PALIN!!!!!

To are you kidding me..In your research did you come across any donations given to Senators DODD, OBAMA, KERRY, and McCAIN and the dollar amount? How about DODDS low interest loan from COUNTRYWIDE? Congressman RANGELS non payment of taxes for his villas in PR. Isn't he the ranking member in the House Ways and Means committee. They legislate our tax code. How about Barney "sweet cheeks" FRANK's congressional testimony, that is on tape, where he says Fannie/Mae is in great shape. All hands are dirty, from the each individual to the top. It's the memory loss(selective amnesia) that scares me.

Posted by: Blog Refuter Location: NC on Sep 28, 2008 at 02:10 PM
Good job, Sharon. I observed the same thing and wondered if anyone else made the same conclusions. If you cannot look someone in the eyes, in my opinion, it suggests that you are fearful, disloyal, and dishonest. I'm not saying that those qualities necessarily define McCain, but from experience, that is what I have learned. To suggest that looking another man in the eyes would make you soft, I would really wonder about that person. On a serious note though, if you become soft by looking someone in the eyes, then you do not have the guts for the job anyway. I do not know Senator McCains' reasons for not making eye contact with Senator Obama during the debate, but it reflects poorly on McCains' behalf in my book.

McSain did horrible. He kept bring up his experience from way back when! We already know he's been around for years and have not done nothing! OBAMA was very presidential Fri. night. The almighty Sarah Palen's turn Oct. 2nd!!! I can't wait to hear some of her educational guesses. McCain is going to give us a glimps of his good judgment! America needs are far to great!!!! We need competent people in the White House not two people with a combination of 2 or 3 degrees including HS diploma. Sarah Palen only has a journalism degree and you want her leadership in running the country? What would happen if McCain croaks???? Do you want a journalism major running your country? Please give me a response on this one republicans!!!! Bring it on!!!

Obama involved in the meltdown? Yet another Rove trick by accusing your opponent of your own biggest failings. Neither of the two Freddie-Fannie links(Franklin Raines and James Johnson) have worked for those companies lately or are currently working on the Obama campaign. However, McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis ownes a lobbying firm called Davis Manafort which has received $15,000 a month from Freddie Mac from late 2005 through LAST MONTH. Davis was also paid $30,000 a month from 2000 to 2005 by Homeownerhip Alliance in which he headed that was financed by Freddie and Fannie to fight regulation. McCain's senior adviser, his vice chariman, his congressional liaison, and his transition team ALL made fortunes from Freddie/Fannie lobbying or were players in firms that did. I do check the facts!

Chris, I never said I was for Obama, I was only making the point that McCain should be more respectful making his points. It shows much more confidence. This man is running for the office of President of the United States. He should command respect. You must show respect in order to be respected. For the record, I am still undecided in who to vote for.

Sounds like some of you got up on the wrong side of the bed. Sorry, Obama was soft and not on the attack. Yes, all of you posted how chicken McCain was but you are wrong. Obama kept agreeing with McCain and was soft on issues. I think if you didn't get this from the debate I question who is wearing the blinders. And, Obama is invovled with the meltdown. That is a fact you can check on if you get away from the liberal blogs. Are you really seeing this?

McCain wanted to delay the stupid debate because of the financial crisis. It was good to see at least one Senator concerned about something besides themselves!

To are you kidding, WE all know the republicans have blinders on and only see things they can spin into being the truth. Please don't worry about it America sees how dirty the republicans are. "McCHICKEN IS JUST LIKE BUSH IN EVERY WAY" McCHICKEN can not talk the talk or walk the walk, it is ridiculous he is ever running for office, just proves what a fool he is.

McCain is critizing Obama for exploiting the economic meltdown? What on Earth do you call suspending your campaign, trying to postpone the debate to make sure an agreement is made, then leaving anyway, doing the debate, and never doing anything about the problem? McCain's campaign is blaming the Obama campaign for doing the very things that they themselves are quilty of. It comes right out of the Rove handbook. Are people really not seeing this?

Sharon, McCain did what most fighters do, they do not try to get to know their opponent because they have the possiblity of becoming soft. I would not bring up idea of McCain acting like a "first grader" before I looked at how Barack Hussien Obama was rolling his eyes. Did you notice how McCain referred to Barack as Senator Obama instead of Senator Obama referring to Senator McCain as John. That was not very respectable. I would have not looked Senator Obama in the eyes either because I do not trust him. I tend not to trust people that have friends like, Rezko, William Ayers and "Reverand" Wright. Wake up!

It made me sick that McCain wouldn't even look at Obama. Even at the initial handshake, McCain wouldn't look at him! Even if he doesn't like the man, he should be respectful enough to at least look at him and shoot him down. If McCain is elected President and goes to a NATO meeting, is he going to look down at the table to talk if he doesn't like the people sitting around him? He should be a man, look his opponent in the eye and tell him what he wants to say. That was the first thing I learned when taking public speaking in college!!!! McCain acted like a first grader (sorry about that kids) during that debate.
