McCain Wants To Delay Debate With Obama; Obama Disagrees Save Email Print

Obama inclined to move ahead with debate Barack Obama wants to go on with Friday's scheduled presidential debate, despite John McCain's call for it to be postponed. Obama says it's "more important than ever" that he and McCain describe themselves to the American people.

McCain is suspending his campaign and wants Obama to do the same in order to work together to deal with the nation's financial problems. The move is an effort by the Republican to claim leadership on an issue that has been troublesome for his campaign.

Obama is moving ahead of McCain in the polls.

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid says the debate should go on because of the need for "leadership, not a campaign photo op."

The University of Mississippi is slated to host the debate. The school says it's going forward with its plans and expects it to take place.

I think it's safe to take this one down now.

Yes, and the scary thing is some of them will vote. The follow the party like religion. Yet doing investigations into all that has been said about the debate, I actually saw and concluded what I have been posting here. Obama is just not ready for this office and I am Obama Snake Oil Co and I approve this message.

Posted by: @ @ on Sep 27, 2008 at 11:15 PM
It is not Obama or McCain that worries me it is 99.9% of the people in America. After reading the comments on here I feel like I am living Iraq or Nazi Germany. We have no freedom of peach without being chastise by a bunch of idiots with little intelligence.

Posted by: Tad Location: Jamesville on Sep 27, 2008 at 10:15 PM
Yes obama 08 for community organizer, it was for you. I always look forward to hearing from you, so to speak, although you are usually somewhere over the left field fence. I do hope that you and the inexperienced young community organizer benefitted from the education that Sen McCain laid down for you last night. Hey, I have a pothole at the end of my driveway and a speed bump on my street that is too high. Do you think barack could organize my community to deal with these crises.

Posted by: Little Woman on Sep 27, 2008 at 09:27 PM
No crying here, after being on here so much I don't care any more. :)

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 27, 2008 at 08:48 PM
LOL@Obama Snake Oil Co....when the debate was over last night I was disappointed with both candidates. I thought the debate lacked the gut punches I'm use to seeing. You won't see me cry, I'm not that emotional...but thanks for thinking about me! I'm sure you and I could have had a better debate.....but I bet you would be chicken too :) Did you cry last night, because McCain looked like he was about to have a meltdown?

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Sep 27, 2008 at 07:29 PM
I think little woman and obama 08 should be crying for what their canidate did. he did not convince anyone he was a leader. He played like a little kid trying to defend himself all night. Yet you think he won? Spin is a horrible delusion by your party. Even Bill Clinton likes the two republicans as he has supported both in recent stories. Sorry you picked a liberal no one trusts, maybe in the next 12 years Hillary will run and win. This democrat was not impressed with Obama at all. OK, he ennunciates, sorry, no one is home. Follow you party loyal DOPES, maybe the party will come up with a chance in the future. For now, just a couple of losers that will not make it in an election. Obama, has no experience and Biden will crumble under Palins attack. Have a nice day!

LOL@Tad....would that comment be for little ole me?...... :)

Posted by: Little Woman Location: victory on Sep 27, 2008 at 08:55 AM
To Matt, You know what, I did not need the debate to convince ME I was both convinced and confident that WE would have fried McChicken last night. Where was Palin last night hiding as usual, I see Joe was there. What is SHE going when it is HER turn. I tell you she gives all women in this country a bad name. I for one wanted a intelligent woman to represent ME as President or VP "NOT A WOMAN WANNA BE"

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 27, 2008 at 07:36 AM
You all better take a look at the polls McChicken lost his butt last night, WE all knew HE would. Hey people it do FEEL GOODDDDDDDDDD. AWE THE OLD GUY DID NEED TO WIN THIS ONE TOO LMAO

Posted by: Tad Location: Jamesville on Sep 27, 2008 at 04:34 AM
McCain didn't prepare and still gave the whooping, obama 08 4 community organizer.

Posted by: Matt Location: NC on Sep 26, 2008 at 11:50 PM
Keep trying to convince yourself little woman. America just saw obama get smoked like a cheap cigar. Look for a landslide in November. McCain/Palin 08!

Posted by: Little Woman on Sep 26, 2008 at 11:20 PM
Well girl our man went over the top just like we knew he would. I am sure the republicans will put a big spin on it. Let them bring it on, We know they watch FOX NEWS lol

Hello thank you very much. I am no sissy chick ether, I think we can both hold our own don't you? :)

Posted by: Rick Location: Greenville on Sep 26, 2008 at 10:04 PM
John McCain doesn't. So you get your facts straight.

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 26, 2008 at 07:49 PM
Little Woman, hello ally....Wonderful job you're doing with the Republicans. I knew who you were by your first post, but you didn't need me. You held your own, I was never far behind pulling up the end. Like I said before, I always played with the boys, so I'm no sissy chick. Great Job friend!

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 26, 2008 at 07:39 PM
tonight will tell it all. No telepromptors, no speech writers.....now lets see who will sink or swim! We know who our money is on. McCain is going to get a whooping.

Posted by: GO OBAMA on Sep 26, 2008 at 07:19 PM
Less than two hours now. This is better than the world series, I've got the snacks ready, and the friends coming. Going to be a great night for Obama. However the VP Debate will be even better. If Katie C. can make Palin's voice quiver, think what Joe Biden can do.

Posted by: Little Woman on Sep 26, 2008 at 05:31 PM
Hell yes I want Obama, I hope I don't disappoint YOU by not apologizing for voting for him. I will vote for McBush next time around, yeah right. Obama 08 4 Prez YOU know we do have to consider the source of the information we read on here. There is almost NO reliable information to be had.......lol

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 26, 2008 at 05:11 PM
Wow - I really can't see how anyone can vote McCain/Palin after this week. Palins interviews showed shes sooooooooo out of her league here. Can't wait to see that debate. Can't beleive she would be one heartbeat away as they say. And McCain, all he does is play games. Even some conservative Rep. are calling for her to quit today. Bet yall are getting a little nervous now. Obama/Biden

Posted by: Tom Location: Washington on Sep 26, 2008 at 04:13 PM
McCain 08. NO to Obama and if you vote for him you will be sorry. Obama is a big talker at least McCain knows what he is doing! Anyway, if you vote for Obama, you are going to mess everything up for everyone. I can't stand Obama.

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Striking distance on Sep 26, 2008 at 02:40 PM
Hey there Obama 08, no, I knew exactly who she was implicating having read her past posts. Yes, I know she wants Obama. So, if your re-read the comment with that in mind you might understand my point. Yes, I am a democrat but not a liberal. I am a moderate. I don't subscribe to any liberal web site or liberal beliefs. I have posted this many times on this witn site. My point to her was I use other media to get both sides and just don't take one position and stay there. When you mention Fox liberals cringe and claim they are far right when they do a pretty good job of presenting both sides. Yes, they do sometime show the right on some stories. The part I do not like is the local stations always present from the left and barely anything from a moderate postion. Like Caty going after Palin on facts that no VP would have answers on just to belittle her. That was shamless, yet liberals just make it an extension of how stupid she is. It is an election not a witch hunt. I am a male snak

Posted by: American Biker Location: Eastern NC on Sep 26, 2008 at 02:32 PM
Well, looks like "It's On". I am still undecided, since I don't trust either one, so maybe tonight will enlighten me on stuff other than the same old sh..... ooops stuff that are in the commercials. It does seem that McCain is trying to be where he needs to be on all counts so far, but if neither one strikes me tonight as really giving a hoot about the working class people, then I guess I'll just have to vote for the one with the "Cute" running mate. At least she'll look good while we're getting screwed. Don't read to much into this cause if it does get posted, it'll probably be edited so much that it won't make sense anyhow. Later people... Got six bucks left outta my paycheck, so I'm gonna take a ride.

Posted by: Little Woman on Sep 26, 2008 at 02:18 PM
The next I will draw a picture, I guess some are just like McBush they forget what they say. Now just who ask for facts all the time on here "THE REPUBLICANS" lmao

Posted by: Adam Location: Greenville on Sep 26, 2008 at 02:12 PM
You are correct. Obama...community organizer. That's great experience for president right there.... I would trust Obama to run my lemonade stand, surely not to run the country!!!

Posted by: Little Woman on Sep 26, 2008 at 02:05 PM
To Anonymous I am going to Obama 08 4 Prez! tonight. Obama 08 4 Prez! knows I am a Democrat and I want to watch the debate with him\her. I don't know if Obama 08 4 Prez! is M or FM I don't care, they always agree with no matter what name I use on this site. :)

Posted by: Kitty on Sep 26, 2008 at 01:53 PM
To Obama 08 4 Prez!, I will be over with a bucket of McChicken, a hole bucket of right wings for US to chew up and spit out, see you at the debate. I just saw on CNN that McBush just hoped a jet to get his A** down there. I could swear he said he was not going to the debate. There he goes with his flip flopping again, the poor old guy, he probably forgot what he said again. You know he did forget if he had a house. LMAO

Posted by: alex Location: Washington on Sep 26, 2008 at 01:47 PM
Sure seems like Obama has managed to pull the wool over the eyes of many on this board. He is nothing but big talk, I will give him credit, he "sounds" good and gives great speeches. But all those words and no proven actions to go along with it don't mean a lot. Giving great speeches does not give credentials for being Preasident. What a joke!!

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 26, 2008 at 01:41 PM
My My My....Obama Snake Oil Co..you're a democrat? Is this the first time you've said it? Probably not, it's just the first time I've read something you've posted. So you think Little Woman's comment was meant for you? There is someone always asking for facts like a "scratched record", but I thought it was someone else.....not you. May I ask if you're male or female or prefer not to answer?

Posted by: Little Woman on Sep 26, 2008 at 01:32 PM
Obama Snake Oil, You totally misunderstood my comment. I am a Democrat and I stand behind Obama\Biden 100%. My last comment was addressing the republicans for being imbeciles.

Little Woman - I could say the same about reading all of your same old garb. And Obama 08 4 PreZ if I could I'd be at your house tonight eating chicken and laughing with you. I'll have you in my heart anyway.

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Sep 26, 2008 at 12:59 PM
Thanks Little Woman, every point you made is correct. Facts mean something to most of us that vote. We look into what is said and make decisions based on country and heart. Some of these bloggers made their decisions to stay by "party" lines and believe the misinformation given by the news media. I am a democrat who watches Fox news, looks for "real" information on the canidates on the internet, not just the liberal web sites like they do. I have found that most everything posted about Palin or McCain has been twisted way out of its original facts. I don't criticized Obama for the person, just the motives being liberal. Liberals make up about 15% of the populus only. The do not have the values the rest of us have. That is, those that work hard, earn a living and pay our taxes. McCain and Palin seem to share the values comon to most of us in NC and surrounding states. Sorry, but this is the facts again. Obama come out and play when you prove yourself.

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 26, 2008 at 12:56 PM
Looks like we are going to have an old fashion debate tonight....come on over to my house and watch it on my 52" flat screen TV that I purchased with my WaMu credit card, who by the way went bankrupted this morning, sad. Republicans bring your own tissues for your issues, or better yet, ~wagging my finger in your faces~ no crying, you're big boys now. LOL...Lavon..in honor of the guess, will you please bring some chicken? LMAO

Posted by: Jack-undecided voter Location: Greenville on Sep 26, 2008 at 11:34 AM
Well, it seems none of you Dems can give any reason why Obama should not be doing his elected job, and be sitting in his seat in congress, just like McCain is doing. Shows to me, that he does not care!!!!! Also shows McCain does care. All Obama can do is attack McCain for not going to a debate when McCain is actually busy trying to straigten out the economic problem. Sure helps me see the light and what Obama is about.

Posted by: Matt Location: NC on Sep 26, 2008 at 11:33 AM
Bad news for obama. It's on for tonight. Now you guys screaming chicken can get scared again and get back under your rocks.

Posted by: jerry Location: washington on Sep 26, 2008 at 10:18 AM
biden is a good choice for the republicans bad choice for demc.

Posted by: LAVON Location: KINSTON on Sep 26, 2008 at 10:10 AM
Lita that was a very nice and truthful post. I mean when it come to republicans it's as is they want to criticize Obama and Michelle for being educated and smart. The best thing Mccain can do at this point is to get his but on a plane and fly out to the debate tonight, and maybe he can save whats left of his career from utterly and complete humiliation..

Posted by: Jack Location: Greenville on Sep 26, 2008 at 09:45 AM
Hey Lavon, as I posted earlier, I am an undecided voter. Who do you think is running around with their tail between his legs...McCain?? Look to me the other way around. If Senator Obama really cared about the people and the economic troubles, it looks to me like he would be sitting in his seat with McCain and doing what he was elected to do instead of bad-mouthing McCain for not going to a debate. I for one surely think the economic troubles are far more important than a debate tonight. McCain sure gets a lot of points for my vote on this issue. At least he is showing he cares, what is Obama doing??????????

Posted by: Little Woman on Sep 26, 2008 at 09:35 AM
YOU people are so out of touch with what is going on in this election it is unbelievable. Watching some of YOU come on here every day and regurgitate the same old garbage. YOU bad mouth people for a very unimportant statement then ignore a true statement. I won't ask YOU why YOU do that because I already know why. It is simple YOU don't know the facts when YOU see them. YOU ask for facts but then YOU choose to ignore the truth. I am not interested in YOUR facts or YOUR truth ether so keep them to YOUR SELF. I am not naming names but "YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE" unless YOU are so stupid YOU don't even know YOU are stupid and that is a very big possibility. We will see in November just who knew the "TRUTH" By the way if the shoe fits wear it :)

Posted by: Lita Location: Washington on Sep 26, 2008 at 09:35 AM
Obama Snake Oil, Palin is nothing like me and I thank God. I am not a person to think that I am better than anyone, but I do have sense enough to know that Palin is not qualified to be the country's next VP, morally, educationally, or professionally. As far as most politicians being millionaires, if they earned it honestly by getting an education at Harvard and not being born into money or leaving their first spouse to MARRY INTO MONEY, and the Harvard grad can still being community-minded in their professional career, it speaks volumes of character and integrity.

Posted by: Lavon Location: kinston on Sep 26, 2008 at 09:09 AM
Our candidate wont make it in the general election?? Your candidate can't even make it to a debate!! BWAHAHAHAHAAAAWWWWWW!!! Face it dude Palin is a dumb as a box of rocks and Mccain is running with his tail between his legs...Lol!

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Sep 26, 2008 at 08:26 AM
I like the way you liberals can judge someone you really know nothing about. Palin is being attacked from many directions by the media, the liberal media. You attack Palin and ignore Obamas past. Face it, your canidate will not make it in the general election. You can polish a trd and what do you still have. You guessed it. When the democrats start coming up with electable canidates, I will vote that way. Right now, they have picked another elitetist. Someone not like me or you. You might hate Palin, but she is closer to most of us than Obama. If you have not noticed, these politicians are all millionaires that have nothing in comon with any of us. Most of them are out of touch with what the working people of the country want and need. McCain is doing his job as a leader, Obama doesn't know what that means.

Posted by: Jack-undecided voter Location: Greenville on Sep 26, 2008 at 08:17 AM
I thought both McCain and Obama had responsibilities to be sitting in their seats in Congress while this economic plans was being dicussed. Seems like McCain is doing his job, and will be there in his seat. Seems to me that Obama is the chicken, why is he NOT in his assigned seat in Congress during all of this. I am undecided voter, but this action from McCain actually being responsible and doing his job sure helped sway my vote towards him. Looks like I call Obama the chicken in this case. Do your job instead of being critical of someone else who is doing their job!!!

McBush is like George Jones NO SHOW, that is alright because I am looking forward to Biden\Palin, I can hardly wait lmao :)

Posted by: Trucker on Sep 26, 2008 at 07:58 AM
I can't understand why YOU people still come on this site and talk about how wonderful McBush is after watching him is Washington yesterday. The man made a complete fool of himself, Joe Leberman was the only one that was interested in McBush being there and though McBush had some importance in Washington. People I am not asking you to read between the lines BUT I am asking YOU to see the truth. Oh my God I so totally forgot McBush's best buddy BUSH BABY sent for him and he went running. I think it was funny that the meeting was going great until McBush showed up.

OBAMA uses the term "multi-tasking". That means doing many things at one time. Maybe he should introduce CONGRESS to that term. It's refreshing to know,if he is elected, the FINANCIAL,MEDICARE,MEDICAID,ENERGY, MILITARY,etc.problems will all be accomplished together. Multi-tasking to politician, is to be able to look you in the eye, and shake someone elses hand at the same time. He obviously doesn't know the inner workings of CONGRESS. He is playing "softball"and they play "hardball".

Posted by: Devil Dog Location: New Bern on Sep 26, 2008 at 03:56 AM
Alot of people on this blog would vote for an OBAMA/FONDA ticket.

Posted by: joesixpack Location: williamston on Sep 26, 2008 at 12:32 AM
The "Mcchicken" nickname was pretty funny I have to admit lol but I think everyone is losing sight of the fact that McCain is actually concerned about the bail out mess. He has nothing to gain with delaying the debates and knows it wouldmake him look bad. Maybe in everyone's haste to badmouth him we should think about who is going to be a decisive leader and not always go with whatever direction the wind is blowing. Most people are not experts on matters of the economy to make a accurate judgement of things. Obama's sideline non commital let someone else worry about the poblem attitude here confirms my suspicion that he is only concerned with his votes. He'll win I'm sure but he's not getting my vote!

Posted by: lavon Location: kinston on Sep 25, 2008 at 10:56 PM
have you guys been watching Sarah Palin being interviewed lately? I mean is this woman even educated at all? When she's asked a question she starts spatting off about something completely different from the question asked. After listening to some of her responses to questions asked, I mean what in the world is this woman talking about?? Thank you so much John Mccain for choosing this woman as your running mate. The democrats have just swept this election under the rug.. Lol!!!!

Exactly what do you think McCain is doing in Washington....nothing! Is he giving some of his money to support the 700 billion dollar bailout? NO Then why can't he debate? ORRR Why can't he visit his favorite followers in NC just once? Because this state doesn't matter to him. So keep writing love letters to him and Palin and see if he cares. He'll never step foot in NC because you republicans aren't worth enough delegates to him. LOL McCain has called you worthless without saying a word. Still love him don't you? LOL pathetic.....you burp and I smell McCain's butt. You need some fresh air boys, your brains or lack of is being polluted by the stench of liar's gas. Do you feel your dreams dying, it's called the President Obama Disease....I think you might have it!

Posted by: Concerned Location: Cape Carteret on Sep 25, 2008 at 08:25 PM
I am personally glad that we have McCain/Palin running for president. Obama is one scary man. He has no clue what he is doing and he is as green as one can be to attempt being president. His wife hates whites and isn't proud of her country. Wake up people, if you think we are bad off now, we will 10 times worse off with Nobama as our president.

Posted by: WAKE UP AMERICA! Location: WILLIAMSTON on Sep 25, 2008 at 08:20 PM
OF COURSE OBAMA WANTS TO GO ON WITH THE DEBATE! HE HAS FORGOT WHAT WE ARE PAYING HIM FOR. hE SHOULD BE IN WASHINGTON EARNING HIS PAY, INSTEAD HE PREFERS TO KEEP ON THE TRAIL. JUST THINK, THIS WILL BE THE SAME WAY HE WILL TRY TO RUN OUR COUNTRY! WAKE UP AMERICA, JOHN MCCAIN, HAS LIVED HIS LIFE FOR HIS COUNTRY. OBAMA IS A REAL JOKE, IN A FANCY SUIT WITH FRIENDS LIKE OPRAH! THIS IS A REAL JOB FOR A REAL AMERICAN! MCCAIN/PALIN THAT IS THE SMART CHOICE!

McCain is using this as an photo opt. They say Obama has been calling in keeping up with what's going on and they haven't even heard from McCain until yesterday when he decided to use this.

Posted by: Truker on Sep 25, 2008 at 05:08 PM
Do you people really believe that any any politician or candidate speaks without a teleprompter. If any one is dumb enough to believe that then you are dumber than you are accusing Obama of being. I feel so sorry for some of you people. :(

Posted by: Sarah Location: Fayetteville, NC on Sep 25, 2008 at 03:56 PM
this shows that McCain cares about the american people then running for a presidential title and obama has proven he cares more about himself and winning then his 1st job which is the senate. obama has forgotten that he is still in the senate and that is his 1st job.

Anonymous...have you ever heard Obabma speak when he is not in front of a telepromptor. He is horrible.

To lavon L, "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING" lmao

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 25, 2008 at 01:53 PM
McCain isn't fooling anybody. He wants to postpone the debate because he is terrible at speaking and doesn't stand a chance to win the debate against Obama. Can't wait to watch this!!

Posted by: lavon Location: kinston on Sep 25, 2008 at 01:28 PM
Obama is better off not debating McCain as his in-experience will show. I was hoping no one would notice that until after the election.

Posted by: Obama 08 4 Prez! on Sep 25, 2008 at 01:24 PM
I'm glad McCain wants to postpone the debate. This way Obama can prepare better.

Obama 08. At least we agree on about 3% of stuff. Hell, we may be on our way to being running mates in 2012. 08 4 Prez / Biker. Whatcha think? Gotta laugh to keep from crying.

Thanks Devil Dog and Rick for the facts. Most of the poster children on this board want to blame McCain and Bush as usual. They refuse to acknowlege other branches of government that really caused this mess. I know Barney Franks (D) was involved with this and they say it is republicans as usual. Denial is a terrible way to go through life....

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Sep 25, 2008 at 12:46 PM
Does anyone know why Beverly Perdue was a 'no show' at the debate last night? Why is there no coverage of this? No news from WITN? There is no mention there even was a debate last night. Helllooooo? I suppose it is more important to do a story on Clay Aiken's sexual preference, or there is water on the road in a few places in eastern NC. Jeeeshhh!

Posted by: Trucker on Sep 25, 2008 at 12:12 PM
From the washingtonpost.com site........ "Obama and McCain coming back will not be particularly helpful," said House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.). "It's just going to bring the presidential campaign into the halls of Congress directly."

This fiasco started in 1975, with the uptick in the housing market. For 33 years, people bought and sold homes, hoping for large profits, even as prices were out of control. Builders took advantage of low interest rates, and overbuilt in some regions of the country. Easy credit, everyone rates something, even if you contribute nothing was the final dagger. Allowing banks and investment institutions to merge in 1999, by the repeal of the GLASS-SEGAR ACT of 1933, added fuel to the fire. Companies got to big and hard to manage. If credit isn't infused into the marketplace shortly, interest rates and unemployment rates will spike to levels you have never seen before. If you want a good investment....BUY LAND.

I guess all of you forget how stupid Obama looked in the Town Hall Forum that McCain smoked him in a few weeks ago. McCain wanted to have more informal forums such as this but after Obama answered "Well that's above my paygrade" to the question about conception he knew he was outmatched and couldn't hang. McCain will wear him out in the debate when they get off of the scripted items. Obama is a propped up man who has to memorize everything or read off of his two teleprompters. If he doesn't have that he's just going to say "uh, um, well, uhhh, you'll see. McCain tried to head off this housing crisis three years ago but was blocked by the democrat heavy senate. Obama was counting all of the money he's been given by these crooked executives at the large housing firms and didn't even know there was a way to fix it before it became too big of a problem to deal with. I hope you're all ready to pay more taxes than you've ever paid.

I have noticed that about 75% of the POST EDITED is ones posted by republicans. I guess it is one of many characteristics to identify them as being true republicans, they are above going by the rules that governs life in America. They positively need to get with the program.

People if you withdraw all your savings you have nothing at risk. That is what I did plus I sold all my stock and made a respectable amount of money on it. :)

If you take Obama's salary and divide that by how many days that he as actually done the job he was elected for he is making about $1100.00 a day. Considering he has spent about 145 days doing his job, I can see why he doesn"t want to go back to DC and work on this. He might actually have to do some work. He is no different than all the deadbeats on disability that can work but are just too lazy to get a real job. i'm not saying Bush hasn't done a bad job but this economy and security was screwed up before he got the job. The President before him is just as much to blame for our situation than Bush is. The thing we all need to focus on is the economy. It is screwed up and it needs to be fixed....

To Dwayne...Don't forget... Barney Frank's sister was Prez CLINTONS communication director. Barney Frank, Alan Greenspan, and the CEO's of Fannie and Freddie plus Countrywide need to go on trial first. CONGRESS knows whose at fault but are "gutless" to release the names. Where were the Chairman of these CONGRESSIONAL committees????

Posted by: Dwayne Location: Greenville on Sep 25, 2008 at 09:26 AM
It's interesting the Sen.Barney Frank took a shot at Senator McCain stating that Sen.McCain is coming to help with something the Democrats have already taken care of. What!!? Democratic Senator Barney Frank is ahead of the Finance Committee. How exactly did Sen.Barney Frank miss this coming? He must have been busy with his boyfriend. Don't get mad at me. Sen. Frank is the one who is an admitted homosexual. A good debater doesn't necessarily indicate a good leader for either Sen. McCain or Sen. Obama.

Watch the Couric interview on YOUTUBE....it was wonderful. Palin couldn't handle an interview with a woman, how is she going to have a debate with a man. She was turned into a baby, and she looked like she had a booboo in her draws. Couric sat close to the end of the chair and her body language was intimating, and she ran that interview. I could have sworn were the mic was placed on Palin, I heard her heart beating. She was no bulldog, with or without lipstick. She was more like a neutered miniature ugly Chinese Crested Dog. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Those are ugly dogs, but they make you smile.

Posted by: Hoss Location: NC on Sep 25, 2008 at 08:59 AM
I loooove the excuses you republicans are coming up with, for your old man. He's sinking in the polls, has nothing to offer, nothing to say, and is scared to debate Obama. Face it, repugs- your party is gone, your corrupt fascist ideology has been rejected by America. You Fail. Furthermore, it's only a matter of months before Palin is doing time, anyways.

Posted by: Jimbo Location: NC on Sep 25, 2008 at 08:54 AM
McCain is a loser and a complete wimp. I'm really sure he's going to be productive, working on the economy over those 90 minutes the debate was to be held. Here's an idea, how about McCain videotapes himself actively working on the economy for that time? Face it cons, your candidate is worthless.

Posted by: Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Sep 25, 2008 at 08:47 AM
Yea, Biden who can make the crippled walk, who doesn't know who the president was during the great depression, Obama that doesn't want to step up to the plate and DO HIS ELECTED RESPONSIBILITY. If some of you understood this problem more fully, you would understand that every dime you have is at risk. Your 401K, savings, mortgages, autos and life is indangered. Obama is the coward since the doesn't want to vote on the issue. We need someone that is more than just present, we need leaders. If he doesn't step up, it won't mater what we post on this board, it might not exist to post. It is obvious that some of you bloggers don't have a clue as you have made it cruel attacks on Palin and McCain. Wanting to see someone cry, that is pretty low life and you should seek help.

Posted by: DK Location: Greenville on Sep 25, 2008 at 08:42 AM
McCain knows that he will be made out to look like a chicken but he is willing to suffer through that for the good of the country in this crisis. He just earned my vote.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 25, 2008 at 07:58 AM
Angie, no I didn't see the Couric interview, but I'm looking for it online. I heard I have to see that one. Can't wait to see Joe Biden make her cry.

Posted by: angie Location: Falkland on Sep 25, 2008 at 07:18 AM
If McCain doesn't want to debate, then we should have the VP's debate. Too bad Palin hasn't prepped long enough to go toe to toe against Biden. Did you see the Couric interview? That was painful.

Posted by: Brian Location: Greenville on Sep 25, 2008 at 07:05 AM
Does the chosen one"Obama" even realize that we have a serious financial situation going on in this country. How about putting our swords away, and work on cleaning uo this mess!

Posted by: Keith Location: G-ville on Sep 25, 2008 at 06:39 AM
McCain is scared!! He can not handle a debate wih Obama.

Posted by: Help on Sep 25, 2008 at 06:27 AM
Of course he wants cancel. He wants more time to get heads up on the economy he's admitted he doesn't know enough about. They need to debate now more than ever!!!! And they want Sarah Palins debate with Joe Biden later as well. They won't even let her talk to the media. She had a photo opt with world leaders this week, so now we are suppose to think she has experience in world policies. What a joke, do they really think the American people are so dumb. McCain needs to get out there Friday night and debate. I'm worried sick about this economy and I want to know what they are thinking. NOT THE TIME TO BACK OUT!!!!

Posted by: Kitty on Sep 24, 2008 at 10:12 PM
No matter what the first debt is about, the fact is McBush is trying to cop out Bush advisers said McBush and Obama would only make the process more difficult by coming to Washington. Please feel free to do a search on that fact.

Obama was acutually challenged to 10 townhall debates over the summer and declined them all. Who is the chicken???

Posted by: To Steve on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:35 PM
Ummm might want to do your reasearch. The fisrt debt would be about Foreign Affairs (Policy)....probably something McCain would be good at. Stop misleading people.

I bet McCain will say that he single-handedly created the new bailout plan. Fact: It's already been written and the final draft is being voted on tomorrow morning. McCain had no role in its creation! Now it's time to prepare for the debate...John must have thought it was going to be a snowday, and now it's 100 degrees outside!

Posted by: @@@ on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:04 PM
I saw Palin being interviewed today and she was about to cry, that was so FUNNY :)

Posted by: Jane Doe Location: Washington on Sep 24, 2008 at 08:51 PM
What better time to have a debate? Everyone will be tuned in because, of the issues that we are facing now!!

Posted by: Steve Location: Greenville on Sep 24, 2008 at 08:39 PM
What is the debate topic about? Economics! What a great day to call in sick! McCain lacks substance and skill, so he turns to low-life politics, claiming to be the savior of the economic meltdown. BTW - The Democratic Congress has been working on this since Friday, and you're old John. You're gonna take too long to get caught up. Let the real politicians work.

Posted by: fun in obamaland on Sep 24, 2008 at 08:10 PM
i guess we have to laugh at the McChicken jokes, because our country is in such bad shape, we only have left to cry. McCain and Palin are speechless because they have nothing to say, no answers for the mess the country is in but stutter and not give katie couric answers...how sad...too bad!!!!

Posted by: To Lavon on Sep 24, 2008 at 08:07 PM
Do you know how many time McCain has challenged Obama to a town hall debate before this (During the summer). I know of atleast 4 times and Obama didn't want to do it. So please tell me who is chicken?

Posted by: Come out and play Location: Obamaland on Sep 24, 2008 at 07:52 PM
The Republicans are running from the real fight - the debates. Palin can't even defend herself against Caty Couric, let alone a skilled politician like Biden! Let McCain play his games...in the end America will see him in his true colors - a chicken. There are plenty of economists saying that a bailout is a HORRIBLE idea, why not give this some time before we sign away 700 billion dollars?

Posted by: Jon Location: Greenville on Sep 24, 2008 at 06:35 PM
McCain is doing what's best for our Country. Which is what Obama should do but our Country is not as important to him. He has very little experience and it shows. You Obama fans....keep drinking the Koo-Aid! McCain will be our next President.

WHY are they both not setting in their seats in congress, this bail out is more important to the voters than their bid for the white house. To MOM, I think nobamas wife has demanded the white house for a christmus present.

I have a ? does Barack Obama have a middle name like most Americans? Maybe I will find out what it is in the debate?

Posted by: arthur Location: Mountain View on Sep 24, 2008 at 04:41 PM
Is there anyone here that suspects we've been dealt the "October Surprise" in September? Now the job of the administration is to blame the victims and those who would try and protect the middle class from another huge transfer of wealth to the protected super rich class.

Posted by: American at Heart Location: NC on Sep 24, 2008 at 04:27 PM
Of course Obama says he wants to continue with the debate. He wants people to think that McCain is backing out of the debate. The Democrats are doing all they can to delay this process. Just like during the Summer when there was work to be done for the people they represent, many of the Democrats walked out of DC to go on vacations, book signing tours, and to campaign. The democrats need to realize that the American taxpzyers are tired of their excuses. When us common people need to get work done, we cancel our plans and work overtime to get our work done. Why is it so hard Mr Obama to put your special interest/campaign on the back burner. Its time you earn the pay for the job the American people pay you to do. Voters please realize that McCain is doing his job and that he hasn't forgotten he works for the people. Mr Obama who do you work for, the American people or yourself?

Posted by: MOM on Sep 24, 2008 at 04:04 PM
Of course Nobama wants to go ahead with the debate he is not worried about the state of the economy. He has one interest...live in the White House...

Posted by: Rob Location: NC on Sep 24, 2008 at 03:59 PM
Right. McCain wants to delay the debate because of- 1. The possibility of a Vietnam flashback. 2. A Botox treatment to help that sagging cheek of his so he dosen't look The Incredible Melting Man on nationaal TV. 3. Try to limit the usage of the phrase "My friends".

Posted by: stalling for time on Sep 24, 2008 at 03:56 PM
Oh my God, What does Friday's debate have to do with the economic crisis. McBush is just stalling for time. I am about sick of the games him and his RED NECK VP is playing. They can run but they can't hide.

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Sep 24, 2008 at 03:52 PM
I wonder how the Obama campaign will attempt to spin this request to their advantage?
