WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrat Joe Biden says he's debated "an awful lot of tough, smart women" throughout his career and that next month's vice presidential debate with Republican Sarah Palin will be no exception. But he'd like to know where she stands on issues.

"She's a smart, tough politician, so I think she's going to be very formidable," Biden told NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

The Democratic senator from Delaware and the Republican governor of Alaska are scheduled to debate Oct. 2 at Washington University in St. Louis.

Biden, serving his sixth term in Congress, said "there's a lot of very tough, smart women in the United States Senate I debate every day." So going up against the first-term governor, he said: "It's not new." He also mentioned his wife, Jill, who has a Ph.D.

Asked whether he'd debate Palin differently than he would Republicans Mitt Romney or Tom Ridge, two former governors who figured into speculation about John McCain's running mate, Biden said the only difference is that he knows their positions on issues.

"I have no idea what her policies are. I assume they're the same as John's. I just don't know," he said of Palin.

Biden said she delivered a great speech to the Republican National Convention last week in St. Paul, Minn., but "her silence on the issues was deafening.

"She didn't mention a word about health care, a word about the environment, a word about the middle class. They never parted her lips ... so I don't know where she is on those things."

Yes, excellent analogy made by voter. I posted a list of topics for Anonymous to research as a little bit of homework on Obama, but as I should have learned by now, it was apparantly too many facts to check so the monitor didn't post it. Regardless, as the polls are showing, the shine is coming off his halo and people are beginning to see the real Obama. The more we find out about him, the less we trust him.

Anonymous; I am not exactly sure if it will be 'more of the same' or not. I have issues with McCain, but the train wreck that would be caused by the liberals winning is so far beyond any issues I have with McCain that it doesn't matter. I personally have been against McCain from the beginning, but the policies represented by the left are like cancer...they WILL kill our nation. I am sure that in your view, any Republican represents more of the same. I have said this before and I'll say it again....The Republicans always keep our military strong, which protects us...the Democrats always cut our military budget. As long as we are strong, we can debate the rest of it amongst ourselves. If we become weak, then someone else may decide they want to make those decisions for us. You can believe it or not, but that is true. Thank God we can sit here and debate our points without fear of being imprisoned for our political views. Try doing this in say...China, Russia, or most any Arabic nation.

Mr. Bob. I'm tired of you ranting about Obama's past. Speak up, just what about his past are you talking about? Come up with some true FACTS that are so awful.

If people knew the truth about Obamas past he wouldn't receive 3% of the votes.

Anonymous; It is true that she hasn't stated where she stands on many issues, but let me explain something to you about Republicans...If you stand on our core issues it is usually a relatively safe bet that on most other issues we will agree. Our biggest beef with McCain is his stance on ILLEGAL Immigrants. On most other issues we agree. NO politician, even of our own party will we agree on everything. It isn't possible. I feel quite certain that when she says where she stands on the issues she will be pretty close to where she needs to be for most of us. Only time will tell.

That's right. She hasn't said where she stands on most of the important issues. All she did was attack. That's why I find it hard to believe so many people are ready for her to win and they don't know a thing about her. She needs to stay where she is and hunt moose.
