MIDDLETOWN, N.J. - Rocker Jon Bon Jovi hosted a fundraiser Friday night at his New Jersey mansion for Barack Obama.

Obama spoke for about eight minutes, vowing, that he won't be bullied, smeared, or lied about. He added that he doesn't believe in coming in second.

About 100 people paid $30,800 dollars a-piece to attend the dinner.
The take is to be split 50-50 between the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

Earlier, Obama attended a $2,300-per-person reception at the
home of a veteran party fundraiser. John McCain can raise no more campaign money because he's opted to accept about 84 million in public funding and the restrictions that go with it. Obama turned down the public funding for the general election campaign, figuring he can raise and spend more on his own.

I would rather pay $30,000 for dinner with Sarah Palin. Cause it is not worth it for Obama, and maybe Bon Jovi if it was 1987 in his "hey day".

I got my dinner a lot cheaper. That was a good steak, baked potatoe, and salad.I would not spend that kind of money to see either one of them, but you have dummies out there that will.

Chris, that doesn't make sense. He was hosting a fundraiser not running for office. Just like GW and Cheney has held fundraisers for McCain. Only they have been kept quite trying to trick the public into thinking that McCain and Bush aren't buddies. :)

I'm still challenging the media to print the facts about Obamas' past. He might as well "hang it up".

It continues to mystify me as to why these "prima donnas" and "stars" continue to support candidates who hate the very system that has allowed these ingrates to make the obscene amounts of money that they are making.

If Obama needs Bon Jovi's help to get elected he might as well call it quits. Maybe he should try Hanna Montana, but she probably does not even know who he is.

Obama thinks that he will get the blue collar middle aged white vote by having Bon Jovi's support. What he doesn't realize, is that Jon Bon Jovi's heyday was in the 80's and the groups major fan base has long since grown up. 'Star power' is only effective on the teenybopper crowd. Actual grown ups don't care who the musicians are supporting. The few that do, are still stoned and aren't going to the polls anyway.

Eat your heart out John Edwards: 100 plates at plus/minus 30k=3 million divided by 8 min.(speach time)=$375,000 per min. and who says hes not a rock star. Bless his heart.

Why would McCain take public funding? I know he can raise over 84 million if Obama can. Get out of the welfare line McCain. Repubs are tired of giving out free handouts.

Someone should tell Obama having Bon Jovi as a supporter doesn't help.
