ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Claiming her historic place on the Republican ticket, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin mocked Barack Obama's experience and promise of change Wednesday night and pledged to help John McCain upend the Washington establishment.

"In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers," she said in a barbed reference to Obama's campaign theme. "And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change," she added in remarks prepared for her prime time address to the Republican National Convention.

In a second unmistakable jab at McCain's White House opponent, Palin traced her career as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, to governor of her state, adding: "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a `community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."

As a young man, Obama did a stint as a community organizer.

The Alaska governor had top billing at the convention on a night delegates also lined up for a noisy roll call of the states to deliver their presidential nomination to McCain.

Palin, 44, also jabbed at the news media, which have raised convention week questions about her background and her family, including her 17-year-old unmarried, pregnant daughter. "Here's little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country."

McCain arrived in the Republican National Convention city earlier in the day to accept the prize of a political lifetime. Instantly, defended his choice of a running mate, saying she was ready to serve as commander in chief after less than two years as governor of Alaska.

"Oh, absolutely," he said in an ABC interview.

"Having been the governor of our largest state, the commander of their National Guard, she was once in charge of their natural resources assets actually, until she found out there was corruption and she quit. ..."

McCain bounded down the steps of his chartered campaign jet at midday into the arms of his extended personal and political family. His wife Cindy was first in line, then their children, then Palin.

McCain hugged his running mate and greeted her husband Todd, known as the "First Dude" of Alaska. Then, cameras recording each gesture, the Arizona senator lingered when he reached the couple that has been the focus of so much convention-week attention, 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the father of her child, Levi Johnston, 18.

McCain's remarks dovetailed with an effort by his campaign to depict Palin's critics as out to destroy the 44-year-old governor, the first female running mate in party history.

The presidential nomination his after a decade of struggle, the 72-year-old McCain swung the spotlight Palin's way on the convention's third night.

While she readied the speech of her career, McCain's top strategist, Steve Schmidt, complained about a "faux media scandal," generated, he said, by "the old boys' network that has come to dominate the news establishment."

Equally insistent, former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift said, "Just like me, we can assume Gov. Palin loves her children, and we can just leave it at that." It was a reference to the vice presidential running mate's daughter, unmarried and pregnant.

Thrust into the national spotlight less than a week ago, the 44-year-old Alaska governor made a brief visit to the Xcel Center to prep for her prime time address to delegates - already on her side - and a prime time TV audience counted in the millions.

Little is known nationally of her views, although a video surfaced during the day of a speech she made at her church in June in which she said U.S. troops had been sent to Iraq "on a task that is from God."

In his interview with ABC, McCain said of Palin, "I mean, this person is going to come to Washington and, I'm telling you, the `old boys' network,' they better look out because change is coming."

He took another slap at Democratic rival Obama, saying Americans don't want "somebody who has - who is, frankly, necessarily gone to Harvard or an Ivy League school. She probably hasn't been to a Georgetown cocktail party," he added.

McCain 's campaign gave speaking turns to three of his former rivals in the primaries of last winter and spring, and they used the opportunity to praise him and warn of the consequences of a defeat.

"Maybe the most dangerous threat of an Obama presidency is that he would continue to give madmen the benefit of the doubt," former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said in remarks released in advance.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney accused Obama of ducking several questions at a recent joint appearance with McCain, who he said "hit the nail on the head: radical Islam is evil, and he will defeat it.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani added that Palin "has more executive experience than the entire Democratic ticket," which includes Obama and Delaware Sen. Joseph Biden, a veteran of more than three decades in the Senate.

Not everyone was quite on message, though.

"I think that Gov. Palin and Sen. Obama do not have extensive experience in government," Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania told reporters. He said she has potential, and judged Obama a "political phenomenon, no doubt about it."

Whatever Palin's impact on the race, McCain's story was among the most arresting in recent presidential politics.

The son and grandson of admirals, he had a rebellious youth by his own account, running up a healthy ledger of demerits at the Naval Academy. Shot down over Vietnam, he was held and tortured for more than five years before his release. Along the way, he turned down an offer of early freedom from captors eager for a propaganda boost.

Elected to Congress in 1982, he moved to the Senate in 1986 as a Reagan Republican. Soon singed by the "Keating Five" scandal, involving the savings and loan industry, he shifted course.

He began carving out a maverick's role, championing legislation to reduce the influence of money in politics and fighting wasteful government spending.

Increasingly over the years, he parted company with fellow Republicans on issues as diverse as tobacco, health care, immigration, judicial nominees, a commission to investigate the Sept. 11 terror attacks, the use of torture in interrogations and more.

He first ran for president in 2000, but lost the GOP nomination to George Bush in a bitter struggle.

As the early front-runner eight years later, he watched helplessly as anger with the Iraq war drained him of the support of independents while conservatives deserted because of legislation giving illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship.

Out of money - but not hope - he pared back his campaign and persevered. When Huckabee defeated Romney in the leadoff Iowa caucuses, it opened the door for McCain to win the New Hampshire primary five days later.

He did, and despite a chronic shortage of funds, methodically dispatched his rivals, one by one, before clinching the nomination with a series of big-state Super Tuesday wins on Feb. 5.

Never a favorite of conservatives, he worked slowly to draw them to his side, and his selection of Palin was a surprising stroke.

Social conservatives greeted her pick enthusiastically - support that coalesced in the ensuing days as her daughter's pregnancy became known.

While McCain himself appeals to independents, strategists said they hoped Palin's presence on the ticket would gain a second look from conservative Democrats who sided with New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton during her failed candidacy earlier in the year.

Anonymous, since the state has been controlled by democrats for many years, this is the party in its finest hour. Spewing hate for Bush and hating Palin who really represents change. They bash her anyway they can since they have no dirt on her. My family in Alaska are democrats and told me they would re-elect her again. She is change in Alaska and will be change in DC as well. Libs don't like her tough image. Well, this is who she is. This Utube video should give most of you an insight on why most of us democrats are voting McCain-Palin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG4fe9GlWS8

Hope, most of the liberals that are posting here are very young. Most won't even vote. They like stirring the pot. Most of us that have been around awhile will vote and vote for the best canidate. You know, the one that is honest, trustworthy and has their country in best mind. They can whine here, but they will not win this time either. As usual, the DNC brings two losers, just like Kerry Edwards to the table. Obama is of shady, very shady background and Biden has never cared about national security. These are facts they will not live down. The only think the DNC can do is create lies like they always do. They accuse Bush of lies, no, that is the house and senate that lied to cover their buts during election year. Most of us are intelligent to know better, some of us are not. They are so blind to party lines they ignore Wright, Ayers and Rezio. I am registered democrat but will vote for the best canidate. That is McCain and Palin. They are the most honest period.

The posts here make me ill. Only in NC, with its bottom of the barrel school systems, would you find such blatant ignorance. One should be required to pass a competency test before being permitted to vote.

To Anonymous, You Republicans have nothing to say except the same thing over and over. You are just like Bush and McBush the same old thing. "No game plan" only a hillbilly would call it that, it is called agenda "not a game plan"

I hope every one knows that just because the people watch one candidate more than the other does not mean they will be voting for that candidate. I watch the candidate I am not voting for because I already know my candidate. This time around I know both candidate.

Barack Obama has less experience at leading than Sarah Palin. Most of Obama's supporters know nothing about him. They hope he will give them a free ride in life. This country needs a change. But not the Obama kind.

A valid point was made by Palin the other day that in Obama's time in the Senate..he voted present in 120 votes. Didn't vote at all just present. Is this how he's going to run our country? I wouldn't hire him to run a McDonalds no less be Commander in Chief for a country he doesnt love. Have any of you liberals wondered why he doesn't cover his heart during our national anthem or why he had the flag removed from his jet? How about all the big changes he keeps talking about? He has no game plan and no experience accept a Chicago community organizer and half a term in the Senate.

Posted by: go obama on Sep 5, 2008 at 08:00 PM
the rnc was a lot of silly shouting,,and a joke. they have nothing to say, but hot air. now we see obama and biden will have sense and work hard for our economy and abroad. bring our soldiers home,,,,work hard in afganistan to help end the war, and bring peace. mccain used so many adjectives to describe issues, that you forget what he said to start with. obama has been clear and conscise from the beginning. he and biden are 2 strong leaders that will listen to our needs.

Posted by: Yankee on Sep 5, 2008 at 06:15 PM
To Obama/Biden, Yes what is her point? To tell you the truth I don't think she has a point that I care about. I am sure she will not have a good point latter ether.

Red State; Bravo! Anonymous; You may not be voting for Obama because he is black, but there will be plenty who will. The ones who have never voted in their lives until now, (excluding the ones that it is their first time being eligible). There will be plenty of first time voters that will vote for exactly that reason. There will also be a large college contingent of all races, heads filled with liberal mush from their professors that will also vote for him because he is black. There will also be some hard left democrats that probably won't vote for him for the same reason. As for me, it's about policy, and if Obama was a conservative I would vote for him. But don't kid yourself into thinking that there aren't people out there that are going to make their decision based entirely on race. Many blacks think that the Republicans are just a bunch of racists. They don't even know that the Republicans are the main reason they got equal rights. How the Democrats high jacked that I don't know.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Greenville, NC on Sep 5, 2008 at 04:55 PM
I do not understand America. How can so many people be so ignorant? I'm sorry but I believe we get what we work for. I do not believe that we all deserve the same things in life. The majority of this county is lazy and have no desire to work or earn their own living. I'm sick of paying for the welfare rejects. The democrats are socialists believe that we are not capable of making our own decisions. I pray to God that McCain and Palin win the election because God Help Us if Obama wins. He has absolutely no business even running for President. He has never served his country!! He has not done anything in his political career! To think that people are so dumb to think that he is capable of being President is absurd.

Posted by: Red State Location: Washington Co. on Sep 5, 2008 at 04:07 PM
To this in the news - sorry to disappoint you but this is how the democratic process works. We discuss issues, policies, and candidates. We talk about what has happened in the past, what is currently happening and what we think or hope will happen in the future. If you don't want to participate in this process that allows us to sort it all out and select the leader that we think will best serve the majority of the American people, then perhaps you should move to a country where that choice is not available to you. Try living somewhere like Ziimbabwe, where the strongest killer with the largest, most ruthless army gets to be the President and make his own rules. If you don't like it, don't worry because you won't live long enough to complain about it. The average life expectancy there is now around 35 yrs. So, if you'll excuse us, we'll get back to some grown up conversation about which of these candidates we think can keep the USA on the path of freedom and democracy. You may go pack.

African americans are not voting for Obama because of his race, we are voting for him because some of us believe he can help the people that are in financial crisis, we also believe in Biden because he does have international experiences. Palin just got a passport so she has no international experiences. This lady has a seventeen year old daughter that is pregnant and it is so amazing that GOP is twisting this saying "we admire her for keeping the baby" bunch of crock, get real people. If you think that the republican party will not raise your taxes think again. The only reason why these north carolinians don't like Obama is because he is black and he is going to raise taxes for people that can afford to pay more.

Posted by: Supporter Location: Elite on Sep 5, 2008 at 04:03 PM
I want to know why no one has ever asked a man, "How will you have time to raise your kids and be Vice President". It's crazy. The mockery of it all. She can do the job, McCain made a great choice. Finally, some one with the guts to take a chance on something different. Heck, it can't be any worse than the other choices.

Posted by: Ken Smith Location: Greenville on Sep 5, 2008 at 03:52 PM
I thought that Palin was right on track with Obama, his Hollywood attitude and total lack of decisiveness that is reflected in his voting record. He never has defended his "I'm here, duh!" record. His leadership abilities, except to his Hollywood no brain friends, is none, nada! Palin has more experience running as VP than Obama does running for Pres. Now that's scarey when you think of him as a possible Pres.

Posted by: ??? Location: NC on Sep 5, 2008 at 03:40 PM
Rick, Maybe the Republicans dont want to see thier country slowly taken away from the people who work for a living and pay taxes and see it given to the crowd that is too sorry to work and sit back on thier porches, have illegitimate babys right and left, live in free housing, and get food stamps. Who is paying for all of this? Why its the working people, the same ones who are losing thier country to a bunch of parasites who dont contribute anything except for more crime, drugs, and more clones of themselves. WAKE UP AMERICA!

unk, I 100% agree with you. The Democrats have allowed Bush to do what he did. A part of me believes they let him do to hurt a republican from being President in 2009. Since the vast majority of Americans do not realize the President doesn't have all the power.

I love to watch you guys argue back and forth like the canidates know each and ever one of you and actually care about you. They care about votes and they are lying to you. Both sides are lying. You all are idiots. I'll talk about Obama and it will make McCain win, no I'll talk about McCain and that will make Obama win. Obama is half black, Palin daughter is knocked up. Who cares, when they get in office they are going to raise taxes and go back on all their promises. and one side is going to be pointing their finger yelling i told you so. I just can't believe how you people think. You need to take a break and actually read what you've already wrote and see how bizarre your acting. If you know so much why are you running for president? Maybe because your better at running your mouth!~shrug~

Bush, McCain, Obama, Clinton, Palin, Obiden, BLAH-BLAH!! I thought strength was in numbers. Where is the democratic congress? The Speaker is in Japan, probably on her knees appologizing for the bomb. This country is not run by one person. Please someone, put an alarm clock in congress and wake them up. It's time to go to work. Congress is the one who passes laws and controls the money. Bush can't do what he does without their approval. Does anyone out there get this? So who is to blame now?

Posted by: Donnie Location: Kinston on Sep 5, 2008 at 01:50 PM
Mccain and palin, what a joke, we need someone that will take this country forward and not follow the worst president in history as he sets up his agenda and policies. I don't know about you but I am tired of the way our country has been handled. Just try and remember eight years ago when the republicans took over. Are you better off now than you were then? I say leave Mccain in the senate and send Palin on a hunting trip with Cheney.

Neil - I don't mean to be insulting, but with a name like Shlonson, I would think you'd be a little more in tune and more sensitive to communist ideas and policies. If you are, then you'll recognize Obama's promises to redistribute the wealth of this country and nationalize the most basic of personal choices like healthcare as centuries old failed policies. He's not Robin Hood, he's Karl Marx. You call Palin a coward for not giving interviews to a bunch of glorified bloggers who have attacked her family when Obama has not given interviews to conservatives or been asked any tough questions for over a year and a half. He wouldn't even go to a town hall meeting with John McCain. He's afraid some bitter, small-town, gun-toting, religion-clinging American might ask him questions about Rev. "GD America" Wright, or his friendly neighborhood terrorist Ayers, or the slum-lord Rezko...

"In a tizzy"? Nope.:) After this week I am tickled pink! Get back to me in two months. If McCain loses, then I will be in a "tizzy". I am opinionated, but "tizzy" doesn't really describe it...LOL.

The entire republican party has nothing to run on but hate, homophobia, bigotry and fear. They have no solutions or ideas, only lies. Thankfully, this election will spell the end of the GOP for the next 30 years. We're still waiting for those WMDs to surface, btw.

A Coward is Palin, given that she will not even conduct an interview until Oct. 2nd. Only your twisted, bigoted party could possibly rationalize Obama going on O'Rielly as cowardice. Sorry, but your fourth reich stuff is over. You Fail.

Obama for Pres - you have been reading too many tabloid headlines in the grocery store checkout line. The investigation of Sarah Palin over the firing of her low life, ex-brother-in-law, (a state trooper who tasered his own 10 yr. old step-son) is a partisan talking point, and a lame one at that. The "tingle up the leg for Obama" crowd over at MSNBC is having a tough time critizing Palin and they're grasping a thin air. When they come up with pretty much nothing, they twist things to confuse you. It's funny how quickly the look in their eyes changed from smugness to fear. Obama is so scared that he ran straight into the arms of Bill O'Reilly! LOL Bill at least made him identify our enemy, but Obama still wouldn't admit that he was wrong about the surge. What a coward!

anybody who doesn't agree with VBush and her posse is identified as a "lib." Rob is 100% correct about the election being bought and paid for. He wasn't referring to the fact that it is rigged in favor of a particular candidate, but that it is rigged in the favor of special interest groups and corporations. To even get this far you have to have friends in very high places. McCain and Obama have been bought and paid for. They will not fight for YOU like they claim. And VBush for somebody using "damage control" you sure do get yourself in a tizzy. Oh yeah, stop watching Fox News.

Spewing hate gets you nowhere. All you believe in is now brought to the table and Americans don't like it. The party of stars, money, lies and deceiption, you won't get your way. Next time get a "democrat" I can believe in. You know, moderate. I would have voted for Hillary and did at the polls. But with Palin and McCain, realized they would be even better than Hillary. By the way, being a community/neighborhood organizer (which is the only thing Obama ever did that came close to impressive) and saying you're qualified to be President is about like this: "I've been a huge baseball fan for years, watched every game on T.V. and even been to a few of them in person, gosh I think I'd make a great pitcher for the Yankees...I'm going to go to their next training camp and try out and when someone questions my ability as a baseball player, I'm going to get an attitude and demand that nobody ask questions about my experience." W-T-F!

FACT: Obama has not ever done anything that even comes close to qualifying him to lead our country He was a neighborhood organizer for God sakes are we in the twilight zone?! Go ahead and get here and McCain in office and it will be the same sorrowful years that Bush was in office.

I was very relieved with the speech from Palin. It gave me hope that this country is not going to fall into the hands of an inexperienced, money hungry (man) that promises all this "change". Where is all this change going to come from? Oh yeah....that change is what is left in my pocket after being taxed to death. Lets just make the people that work, keep paying for the ones that choose not to. McCain & Palin are hopefully going to be running this country soon. We need the expereience in the White House. We do not need a "learning experience" leading this country, Obama is a nightmare that will take 4 years to wake up from...if we make it!

To all you people voting for Obama just because he is black. Get your facts straight....He's not black, he is mixed race. Half white/half black. So, if you look at it the other way, are you voting for him because he's white? He can't be our first black president, but he could be our first mixed race president. He is just using his black heritage to get your votes. He was raised by his white grandparents, not his black relatives. He knows how to play the race card to get what he wants. Don't be disappointed when he doesn't deliver what you want. By the way, I'm mixed race myself.

If you want to see a typical Minority Democrat, just read the Kwame Kilpatrick story.

All I have heard Obama talk about is what Geo. W. has done and about change. He has not given any details about what changes he has planned. It may change for the worse.I know that I definitely would feel less secure with him in Office.Instead of fighting a war over there, I really believe he will eventually cause one to be fought over here.I know people say that will never happen in America, But I am sure there were many in 1860 that probably thought the same thing. So many idiots with thier heads in the sand until it is too late.

Sorry this in the news, this is news, or old news, whatever you call yourself I guess you're right. I mean she should have taken the same moral highground that Obama did when he said "I dont want my daughters to make a mistake later in life and be stuck with a baby." In other words, he will drive them to the abortion clinic himself if need be. Lets stop trying to judge her possible performance by the actions of her daughter. Are you afraid they are going to have the teenagers involved in all the major, top priority decision making or something? I know Bill Clinton always like to support our young women for obvious, perverted reasons, but I dont exactly think her kids will have access to the red button.

For years, women have fought for a resemblence of equality with the opportunity presented on a silver platter and what do you do? Argue. If you won't vote for Palin then aren't you now a chauvanistic pig? Or are you a femanist? Either way, what were you expecting when you had a woman run for office? "NOW" where are you? You now have an opportunity to have a woman president and where is your support? Obama. Palin-McCain shows leadership, Obama-Biden shows sheep like tendencies. That is what the country means by change, shake up the house. Now that is change I believe in since there are no Obama Smoke and Mirror politics.

Sorry to the liberals but your candidate needs mocking...maybe you'll see him for the empty suit he is. What are his brilliant changes he keeps talking about? Like she said how does being a community organizer give him the experience to lead this country? You can go ahead and vote for him to be politically correct and trendy. I'll vote for the candidates who will lead this country not tax us to death and give it away to a welfare bums.

Hee Hee. The Dems are in panic mode. It's actually quite entertaining to watch. Suddenly this race isn't as "in the bag" as they thought. Stop trying to compare the candidates (on both sides) to perfection. You'll never find it. If this woman could control a 17 yr. olds libido, she'd be qualified for far more than VP. The biggest "problem" the dems could come up with from her speech was that she told when her son would be deploying to Iraq. Oooo, that's a national security breach. Please! If that isn't grasping, I don't know what is. Dems don't like to hear the truth about themselves because they can't be completely honest about who they are and what they want this country to be, and still get elected. Their big government socialist ideas have been tried and have failed EVERY time. Since when does running for any office qualify one to hold said office? Never. Obama is weak. Biden has been marginalized by the constant comparison of Palin to Obama.

Posted by: this in the news on Sep 4, 2008 at 12:21 PM
homesick hello earth to you, get my name right. Palin took cheap shots at Obama because she couldn't stick to facts. Yahoo and Times found most of her speech to be a lie. She is right about the bulldog comment. Those dogs can't be trusted. Bush's speech writer wrote her speech, duh how clever. It sounded warmed over. No democrat is running scared. If she has to use insults to motivate you guys, then your nit wits. Those old cliches like, there's a new sheriff in town, sounds like Gunsmoke. I'm a pittbull with lipstick, sounds ugly. Her voice is hideous. I don't care about the other thousands of girls, I'm only concerned with one. That's the want to be vp's daughter. Practice what you preach. Don't tell me about abstinence and your daughter is pregnant. Makes you a hypocrite. Let me see how you run your home before you tell me how to run mine. She gets a big fat F. Obama nor Biden had to hire an attorney when nominated, I wonder why did Palin? Cover up those lies girl.

Posted by: Homesick Carolinian Location: Houston on Sep 4, 2008 at 11:05 AM
Hello earth to 'this is news' you make the comment that maybe if she wasnt making jokes maybe her daughter wouldnt be knocked up. OK, how about all the other thousands of girls who are pregnant whose mothers have NEVER WORKED A LICK IN THEIR LIVES!! Oh, I am sorry, I guess getting the government aid check out of the mail box may be considered work for some. I cant believe that we finally have women brave enough to run for these offices and yes I am even praising Hillary here and everyone is just out to burn them at the stake. Oh, and Anonymous if you think the Dems have never trashed the Republicans, do some research.

I hope Bill did not agree to an easy interview. I really can't see him agreeing to that unless he just does it to get in, and then takes the gloves off. We will see in the first segment this evening.

Posted by: Mike Location: Edenton on Sep 4, 2008 at 10:51 AM
To Rob: Boo Hoo Boo Hoo! You have supported Obama from the getgo and now that the light has been turned on and the roaches (Dems) are seen scattering for what they are, you turn sour on ALL of the candidates and become skeptical. You flip flop as much as Obama!

Posted by: John Location: Mount Olive on Sep 4, 2008 at 10:29 AM
VBush; I looking forward to see Obama on O'Reilly tonight too; but I think Bill had to agree to go easy on him for him to go on his show. I hope I'm wrong, because Obama hasn't had to answer any of the tough questions by reporters yet. The liberal media wants him to win and will not question him like they have Palin. He should ask him about how he really feels about race; sitting in the racist church of Rev Wright puts him as a racist in my opinion; but oh I forgot; he can't be racist, only white people are.

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Sep 4, 2008 at 10:22 AM
Rob; You sound like a very bitter liberal. Who exactly do you think has bought and paid for this election? I don't think there is anyone that has poured more money into the political process than George Soros. If what you say is true, you should be over the top with joy. So if the election can actually be bought, Obama is a 'shoe in'. The reality is that if it could be bought, Obama would have an 80% lead in the polls. He has the most money, and the MAJORITY of the media on his side, (and that hasn't cost him a dime). With all that money and the largest media organization in the world on his side, why is he not completely running away with it? I think it's because the intelligent people aren't buying into his smoke and mirrors campaign, but we will see in a couple of months.

Posted by: Rob Location: NC on Sep 4, 2008 at 09:47 AM
I doesn't matter. Do you honestly believe that any of these folks actually give a darn about you? No way. The election has already been bought and paid for. Same with this sell-out country.

I think the Saddle Back format was the best I have ever seen. It was far better than the standard debate format. I would like to see much more of that. The same questions given to each candidate, and yet they weren't able to go off subject by bickering back and forth. It was a very effective way to find out where each candidate stood on the issues.

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Sep 4, 2008 at 08:18 AM
I can't wait for the debates and watch Obama once again struggle like a fish out of water!

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Sep 4, 2008 at 07:57 AM
Obama will be on O'Reilly's show tonight. I am looking forward to him actually having to answer a question. This will probably be the only REAL interview he has to do. There won't be any softballs thrown during that interview.

Posted by: madonna Location: edenton on Sep 4, 2008 at 07:36 AM
Obama has too much class to get in on the bashing. We can leave that to the ex-beauty queen.....Paula Abdul.....Oh I mean Sarah Palin. If VP doesn't work out maybe she can fill in for Paula Abdul on American Idol. Or even better she can actually spend time caring for her 5 month old special needs child. If she willing to take on the demanding job of VP....her child is not her priority. If she can't put her special needs child 1st (at 5 months old).....I don't know that she who I want to see 2nd in command.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 4, 2008 at 06:35 AM
Jess, I know you are sick, many Americans are right now. But we've got hear all of this "bashing" for a couple of months now, because that's all they have. They can't win on the issues so this is their plan. Don't fall for it America.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 4, 2008 at 06:20 AM
Now it's time for Obama to get mean. He's got class and I really hate to see him scoop to the McCain?Palin level. But I'm ready to see it now. I've now seen the Rep. party scoop to a new low. They spent more time beating up the Dem. than talking about the issues. They almost made me a little ashamed to be American, because if they are what America stands for....well I'm just at a loss of words. The funny thing is, I use to like McCain, but now I've seen what he really is. I also hope that all the Hillary supporters out there will not fall for this game. I know they are smarter than that. It's time to pull together and vote Obama.

Posted by: Mike Location: Edenton on Sep 4, 2008 at 06:11 AM
Just look at today's WITN poll about "Is Ms. Palin ready to be VP". I think at a glance the respondents were 72% YES!!!!!

Posted by: Mike Location: Edenton on Sep 4, 2008 at 06:08 AM
I agree with VBush. It's great to watch the libtards squirm! I'm sure the Obama camp is feeling VERY uncomfortable now and will soon have bags under their eyes from burning the midnight oil trying to figure a way to stop a train just gathering up a good head of steam!

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Sep 4, 2008 at 01:07 AM
Ha! You libs kill me....you are extremely entertaining. Sarah Palin took the Democrats apart figuratively and did it with style and grace. She made good points and did it well. She will no doubt rally our base, and probably the mush headed swing voters as well. Watch the electoral map on Nov.4th, it will be red...VERY RED. Sleep tight liberals.:)....Oh, I am sure the usual suspects will make their normal feeble attempts to flame me. God I feel good tonight!

Palin is great! She took what the liberal media and Dems dished out this week & threw it right back in their faces tonight. What a speach! How proud I am of her as a Republican & as a woman! Our party is so energized & united behind McCain & Palin. Love it!!!!

Posted by: Rob Location: NC on Sep 4, 2008 at 12:30 AM
Palin is more stupid that I previously believed.

Posted by: Low Life Location: NC on Sep 4, 2008 at 12:18 AM
To Guess Who, You know I was thinking she looks like a call girl, I am so glad you said that. I think she needs to sit down and shut her mouth before she looks anymore like a FOOL than she is. As for Rudy he is yesterdays news and another low life Republican.

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Sep 4, 2008 at 12:04 AM
Palin was HOT and her speech was SCORCHING!! McCain/Palin 2008!!

Posted by: Steve Location: Kinston on Sep 3, 2008 at 11:56 PM
"Guess who" is a village idiot and "Jess" is sick for sure. We of the saner group no longer desire to kowtow to your senseless and scurrilous attacks on us simply because we totally disagree with your pandering, illiterate arguments. I wish to inform Jess that he is incorrect. I am quite sure that there is a lower form of life than the Repub party. Your whining wail of "bashing bashing bashing" is no longer accepted by our group of people who are sick and tired of your scurrilous and vicious attacks on people who disagree with your B. S. platforms that do nothing to raise people out of poverty or hold them to a standard of conduct that will improve their lot in life. Blow smoke up someone else's anatomy.WE A'INT BUYING!

Posted by: this in the news on Sep 3, 2008 at 11:46 PM
That's her problem right there, if she wasn't so busy mocking people and making tack-less jokes she could have had better control over her daughter and maybe she wouldn't be knocked up. We don't know if she can run America but we certainly know she can't control her daughter. I saw the same two black people during the RNC. They kept putting the camera on them trying to fool us like there was more. I'm black and we all don't look alike, I know my people. Those were the same black people we saw 50 times. Wait come to think of it, I do believe one of the men was spray painted black because I've never seen that shade before. I wouldn't put it past those pathetic republicans.

democrats/liberals; i just watched palin's speech. it is time to pick up your marbles and quietly go home, or to one of your help programs. it is all over, elvis has left the building. jess; i agree, obama/biden do have a little class,,,,,VERY LITTLE.

Posted by: Jess is sick and ashamed right now. on Sep 3, 2008 at 10:17 PM
I'm sitting here watching the RNC right now. Why I do not know. I now know that the Rep. party is the lowest form of life there is. It is sickening. Rudy is horrible. Let's talk about the issues not bashing, bashing, bashing. That's all the Rep. party has!!!!!!!!!! Low lifes. Another thing (I'm white) but I have been watching about an hour now and I have counted two, I repeat two black people there. This is 2008. America has alot of different people, but this is nothing but stuff shirt white people. These people are truely shameful. Obama and Biden have a little class. GO OBAMA/BIDEN

Posted by: Guess Who Location: Anywhere, USA on Sep 3, 2008 at 10:02 PM
Palin got some nerves "mocking" Obama. She needs to sit down and take care of home front first! She looks to much like a "call girl" instead of this so-called "VP" candidate. I guess McCain was probably looking at her "b**bs" when he offered her the position. This is a joke for the Republicans. Best offer to the U.S. (McCain & Palin) give me a da*mn break!! I hope the "Democrats" whoop the h**l out of the Republicans!! Devils of Devils at its best.

Chris - she looks like a turtle.

Posted by: LOL Location: NC on Sep 3, 2008 at 09:02 PM
Palin was in charge of Alaska's natural resources assets until she found out there was corruption and she quit. ..." I wonder if she quits the VP job when she finds out how much D**N MUCH corruption is in Washington :)

Posted by: Chris Location: Greenville on Sep 3, 2008 at 08:56 PM
She could mock me anytime. She is the hottest VP candidate I have ever seen.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 3, 2008 at 08:46 PM
Give me a break. I heard she was a real B$%&@*.
