Barack Obama isn't going to North Carolina today after all.

His plane had to make an unscheduled landing in St. Louis due to a mechanical problem.

The charter was taking the Democratic presidential candidate to campaign events in Charlotte. A cockpit announcement said the plane experienced a flight-control problem after take-off from Chicago.

Passengers felt the plane dip briefly. But the unexpected movement did not cause visible alarm for the frequent fliers on the plane.

Obama told reporters on board that the stopover was to "spice things up a little bit."

The Illinois senator and a small entourage eventually left the plane and the tarmac to await a flight maintenance check at a local hotel. The North Carolina trip has been postponed until a future date. Obama is instead delivering his remarks on the economy to the reporters traveling with him.

I don't see what all of the hype is about. I thought Bill Clinton was the first black president. Now that's according to Rush Limbaugh. And if you can trust Rush or any other neo-conservative, who can you trust?

J- what an asinine comment to make. You are saying "yay" to the fact that Senator Obama was on a plane with mechanical problems? Seriously?

YAY!! Stay away from NC.

"Just Wondering", that's where the "one drop" rule comes into play. Nearly every African American in this country has mixed ancestry. Even some white people who appear full-blooded white have Black and/or Native American ancestors. Race is so overemphasized.

Hatred will NEVER prevail over greatness! It boggles my mind that someone would have the audacity to make such a thoughtless comment and post anonymously. If your beliefs are that strong and you are making such a strong statement for your family, don't be so ashamed that you have to hide your identity. Obama will visit the state regardless of how you feel and we will paint NC blue in November. YES WE CAN!!!!

I just have to wonder can you give any valid reason why you don't want him here?

Maybe he was coming to Senator Helms funerals...Maybe they had something in common. It never amaze me how the race card always come into a conversation about obama

Since when are children classified by the race of their mother in the school system? I have never heard of this. Insight please!

Bad news for the Bamamaniacs. Not to sound racist, but Obama is being touted as the first black nominee. Why then, are childern classified by the race of their mother in the school system? His mother is definitely not African-American. Just a thought.
