Two People Rescued From Sailboat In Heavy Seas And Strong Winds
The Coast Guard rescued two people from a disabled sailboat during treacherous conditions Tuesday night.

Two people are safe, after they had to be rescued from their disabled sailboat in the Albemarle sound Tuesday night.
The Coast Guard reports: "A man and woman aboard the 26-foot sailboat Griff called Sector North Carolina at 5:48 p.m. after losing power. They reported they needed help and were afraid their boat may capsize in 3-5 foot seas and 20 knot winds. Having been blown off course, they didn't know their exact location, but recently saw channel marker 173 in the Intracoastal Waterway."
A 25-foot response boat from Elizabeth City and a 47-foot boat from Oregon Inlet and found the boat about 7:24 p.m.
Because of the weather conditions, the boat could not be towed. The two people were transported to emergency crews at Alligator River Marine with minor injuries, according to the Coast Guard.
