Ocracoke Lighthouse To Shine Again
The lighthouse, built in 1823, has been dark for the past four months after receiving significant restoration work.

A familiar light on the Outer Banks will return Wednesday at dusk.
The Ocracoke Lighthouse will once again be seen again. The lighthouse, built in 1823, has been dark for the past four months after receiving significant restoration work.
Work included repairs to the metalwork, new glass in the lens room and lightning protection to the structure. The 1860 Fresnel lens remained in the lighthouse during the restoration and was protected in a specially designed enclosure.

I wonder if they will have it to where peole can climb up to the top of the lighthouse like they did with the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. I hope so. It would create a win-win situation, for locals, tourists, and the NC economy in general. It definately is a good one.
