Seven North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers were promoted during a ceremony Friday for Troop A with a new ceremony closer to home in Greenville.

The Highway Patrol used to do all of the ceremonies in Raleigh, but now they take place at each troops headquarters. Troop A is one of 8 Troops in the state covering 20 counties based out of Greenville. There were two promotions to 1st Sergeant and five troopers promoted to Sergeants. Also two civilian Highway Patrol employees were promoted.

Colonel Michael Gilchrist says these men will be first line supervisors and Friday was a day to recognize their outstanding accomplishments.

"Each of these young men are leaders. They represent the tone of the organization. They set the mark. Truly these ranks are the most important for the organization." said Col. Gilchrist

Walmart can tend to attract a lot of law breakers, Probably a better chance to catch a law breaker at Walmart than Starbuck's. Actually a smart move on the troopers part.

I bet the percentage of naysayers is also a very high percentage that they do not have a valid NCDL :) It is not a troopers fault that they broke a law. They just have to enforce it.

I personally want to thank Sgt. Sales for doing a fine job and having the integrity to support and enforce the laws even if you know the violator or if they are a stranger. You are an outstanding trooper and thought highly of in the community. Your record sure shows it. God bless you
