A student who was tasered at an Eastern Carolina high school Tuesday morning is being investigated.
Hyde County School Superintendent Gregg Todd tells WITN News that a DARE officer tasered the student on a sidewalk outside of Mattamuskeet High School around 11:40 a.m.
Todd says the student is an 18-year-old senior at the school. The superintendent said he could not provide any more details on the circumstances behind the student being tasered.
The Hyde County Sheriff's Office says information on this case can only come from Sheriff David Mason, and he is not in today.

To Anon:Back in June the 18 year old student pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, swore in court on the bible that he would not sue the school system or sheriff's department and then received community service and probation. It would have been good for the community if WITN had followed up on this story because the event has had a lot of negative effects on the school, students and the community.
