Stamp Prices To Increase

The cost of mailing a letter or postcard is going up for US residents.

Beginning Sunday, the price of a first-class postal stamp will go up a penny to 45 cents. It's the first increase in more than two years.

Postage for postcards will increase by three cents to 32 cents, and letters to Canada or Mexico will go up by five cents to 85 cents.

Forever stamps will remain valid and still equal in value to the current first-class mail one-ounce rate.

They keep raising the price of postage, and they still wonder why they keep losing money, and why more and more people are using email instead of snail mail?? 'Course, nobody's ever accused the U.S. government of being smart.

Most of your junk mail comes from a processing center in Tarboro, save your collection for months then drive by their facilities and stuff it in their mail box or place very carefully on the front lawn at night.you know what they say about Mr.payback?

Due to all the congressinal constraints placed on the Postmaster General, the US Postal Service will never be profitable. A couple of months ago, a Post Office in Greenville was one of the many on the list to be closed. Just like when one in Kinston and in New Bern were on the list, locals were demostrating to keep "their beloved office open". Congressman Jones attended the rally in Greeville. I few days later, he was on the talk station in Morehead complaining about the waste in the government so I asked him then why was he protesting the closure of the PO in Greenville? He could not explain. The fact is no one wants to see cuts if the cuts are close to home. Nothing will ever get done and the Postal Service will remain as it is today.

Is the rate to send junk mail going to increase as well. I hope not. If it weren't for junk mail they would only need to come to my house once a week.
